Very nice Svm. I wanted to record some video of this storm, but I accidentally fell asleep!

Posted by Quinn at June 11, 2008 03:44 AM

Holy crap, that is one impressive shot man.

Posted by Thomas at June 11, 2008 04:03 AM

Wow!!!

Posted by Massimo Meijer at June 11, 2008 04:10 AM

Great shot...but I wonder how many shots you took to have such a nice lightning!
By the way, I'm impressed by the exposure and the ISO, that gave (how?) such a bright lightning.
Great work!

Oh, this photo is absolutely marvelous!

By the way, I've subscribed to your site's RSS some time ago and I think your photos are great. I really like the idea that you include information about shutter, aperture, ISO, etc. in the tooltip :) It's a great way to learn taking good pictures ;) Thanks!

Fabulous; it's one thing to photograph an international landmark at night, a whole new ball game to catch a flash of lightning lined right up with it.

beautiful

More than wonderful

Posted by Farshad Palideh at June 11, 2008 06:26 AM

That is Beautiful!

Could you post tips on photographing lightning?

Posted by laura at June 11, 2008 07:03 AM

awesome capture!

Posted by sam at June 11, 2008 07:30 AM

Just amazing, i dont know how you do it man... How you catch such perfect photos perfectly placed.

Well done

Posted by DAni at June 11, 2008 07:38 AM

Excellent. The way the lightning bolt passes the CN Tower makes it look so small.

Posted by Mike at June 11, 2008 08:22 AM

Wowzer!!!!!!! Spectacular!

Posted by Suellen at June 11, 2008 08:35 AM

Truly amazing shot! Almost instant classic...

Posted by Mike at June 11, 2008 08:38 AM

Sweet picture. Is this just a long exposure?

Posted by Ed Lavalette at June 11, 2008 08:39 AM

Brilliant (literally!)
This is so good that the skeptics will come out and say the bolt was photoshopped from a second photo. But, all your fans know that your skill, dedication and creativity produce award winning shots! Bravo. This belongs on a book cover.
I'm still gasping for air on this one.

Posted by JasOn at June 11, 2008 08:44 AM

Very impressive!

Posted by Veronique at June 11, 2008 08:51 AM

Amazing shot. How long did you have to stand there waiting or trying to catch a lightning strike?

Posted by Jay at June 11, 2008 09:00 AM

Sam - this is amazing. Do you have a direct link to God to let you know when this kind of opportunity is going to strike??? You are the best!!! And the chess players - what can I say, just brilliant. Cheers - Shari

GREEEAAATTTTT !!!!!!!!!!

Posted by Hippie Johnny at June 11, 2008 02:23 PM

I was thinking during the storm, how wonderful it would be if you would take pictures and than post one with a lightning. And there it is! :)
Thanks!

Great shot!! thanks

Posted by sean at June 11, 2008 06:19 PM

Absolutely amazing, of course.
(Admit it, though. When the lighting struck at the time, you thought it hit the tower, didn't you? God knows I would have.)

Posted by Jeremy Sale at June 11, 2008 09:00 PM

Very nice shot! Lightning is always a challenge, so capturing one so beautifully, with such an interesting and well-exposed forground is truly impressive. Great job :)

Posted by Chris Nolan.ca at June 11, 2008 09:17 PM

Wow... That is unbelievable!*!* You had another amazing one like this a few years ago. I don't understand - Do you sit there by the window, poised and ready to shoot every time there is a lightning storm?! It's an amazing shot!

Posted by Kimberly Way at June 11, 2008 09:17 PM

Amazing shot! Very nice work.

Posted by Paolo De Marchi at June 12, 2008 08:19 PM

I was waiting for a shot like this from you after the storms a few nights ago. Really great!

Posted by 24by36 at June 12, 2008 10:57 PM

My first thought on seeing this was - God wins.

How small we are in comparison to this act of nature. And how wonderful your shot - not just the lightning bolt, but the lights in the buildings, the reflections in the windows... Just a powerful shot.

Thank you Sam.

Posted by Patty at June 13, 2008 11:06 AM

i would also like to add that i really appreciate your work. i grew up in toronto, and i think the way you capture the city is really unique way. since i don't get to visit that often, your photographs are a nice reminder of home. thanks.

This is an absolutely amazing shot! The even greater thing is I arrived in Toronto for my convocation that day and i actually saw this streak from my window that night!

Could you possibly send me/post a widescreen (1024x768) version of this? I'd love this as my wallpaper :)
