That's lovely; the lights almost look like stars. Twinkly.

Posted by osk at April 1, 2008 08:49 AMStunning shot Sam. Great colours, and just the right amount of black. A very refined photo.
Posted by Michael at April 1, 2008 08:59 AMThis is an amazing picture. Could you release a wallpaper-sized version of it?
Posted by Tyler at April 1, 2008 09:00 AMGreat exposure! The fog mixed with the lights create a great mood.
Posted by Jay at April 1, 2008 09:07 AMFirst off, your blog is stunningly brilliant. I've followed it for many months now, and your work is top notch.
This is one of my favorites of yours in a long time. The dark tone works so well. The blue of the sky and the beautifully composed buildings contrasts so pleasingly with the warm lights on the road. It lends itself to an eerie mood, and you want to study the image for a long time. Phenomenal.
Posted by Jarrard at April 1, 2008 09:37 AMIt's about time that I tell you how much I appreciate your photoblog. Toronto is not particularly photogenic and you definitely get the best out of it. Furthermore, I also live downtown and you often post scenes I've had the chance to see, like Spiderman a few days ago.
This picture reminds me of Blade Runner. Another great shot that shows how magic Toronto can be when you know how to look at it.
Thank you
Posted by Suzane at April 1, 2008 09:56 AMThat looks like the opening shot of an 80s movie. In the best possible way. Love it!
Posted by Miss Expatria at April 1, 2008 11:22 AMThe buildings melt into the fog...never saw that lol
Posted by isi at April 1, 2008 11:32 AMthat's beautiful!
Posted by aminTorres at April 1, 2008 11:44 AMThis is so beautiful.
Although it's the busy city life, it still feels very calm and serene.
WOW! :O
I don't know if this is a joke (a fake) or what, but i know it's amazing! Congratulations!

Posted by james | studiosushi at April 1, 2008 02:00 PMWallpaper? I want an *actual* wall with this picture all giant on it. Gorgeous, and I second the _Blade Runner_ comment.
Posted by Eric S. Smith at April 1, 2008 07:07 PMGreat shot Sam. I've gotta agree with the others that mentioned it - this would be great as a wallpaper.
Posted by Kristian at April 1, 2008 07:31 PMThis is really excellent. One of your finest photos in the past few weeks
Posted by Corey at April 2, 2008 01:14 AMvery nice. atmospheric.
Posted by nik at April 2, 2008 09:59 AMAnother great shot. You keep toping yourself.
Posted by Ren at April 2, 2008 11:50 AMWhat's Suzanne talking about? Toronto is extremely photogenic!
Posted by A.R. at April 2, 2008 01:17 PMReminds me of a film from the 80s or a still frame from Koyaanisqatsi. Wonderful work.
Posted by Jeff Ambrose at April 3, 2008 12:27 AMI echo Jeffs comment above. I recently watched Koyaanisqatsi, and saw it the same way. This belongs in a large format mounted on a wall in a loft.
Posted by JasOn at April 4, 2008 03:21 AMthe urban sprawl, deep into the night. lovely.
Posted by Heiko at April 5, 2008 03:52 AMThe most photogenic city I know is Paris (I'm not French, BTW. I'm from Montreal.). You don't need to be a top photographer to get nice shots: point and shoot, you'll end up with something. It's as if this city had been built to be a model.
In Toronto, you need to pick carefully. Toronto is not what I call a nice city. It's a strange patchwork where ugly and beautiful cohabit. It reminds me of London. It can be very interesting but it's all in the eye of the photographer.
This shot is fantastic. Reminds me very much of Koyaanisqatsi. Nice work!
Posted by Ted at April 14, 2008 01:18 PMYou are so gifted dear sam,
This is my first time to your amazing photoblog and I'm so happy I found it. I'll be always here from now on!!!!!
Just your average light snake :) Interesting.
Posted by alexandru savu at April 26, 2008 04:29 PMI really enjoy the abstract qualities of this image; the lighting and monochromatic blue fog set an interesting tone for the image. It is almost unrecognizable. The road creates an interesting pathway through the image leading the eye into emptiness.
Posted by Ashley at May 1, 2008 04:14 PMI am absolutely enchanted by frame and composition of this photo, fading contours and twinkling lights..perfect! as the whole blog! standing ovation!
