Why have the marked the are from where the plaster has come off?

I love these photos from Montreal!!! I am originally from Montreal (Rosemount District) and these photos bring back so many fond memories! I now live in St. Thomas Ontario. What do I miss most about Montreal - THE FOOD of course!!!
