Love your work~ This shot makes me homesick. I'm from Montreal but currently living overseas. I once got questioned by the Metro 'police' whilst shooting in the Jean-Talon station ^^ Your page has become my new homepage. Thanks.
Posted by Sodajonze at February 29, 2008 03:25 AMLove the way he just ruins the symmetrise completely, just sitting there alone saying 'don't wanna move!'
Posted by Philip Jensen at February 29, 2008 04:15 AMI never have the guts to take shots like this on metro stations. Works great in black and white and straight-on like this.
Posted by onewayphotoblog / Mark at February 29, 2008 04:20 AMcool shot. you can see on the wall the ghosted profiles where other people have sat.
Posted by Miguel Hau at February 29, 2008 07:42 AMI have the same picture, but in colors and with out the reader.
Beautiful!
Jeez, I was right there the other day, looking at those seats and thinking, man that would make kind of a cool shot.
The Montreal Subway, with its quirky 60s architecture and design, is just a treasure trove for subway photography. Any tips for taking pictures at such close quarters and in such crappy lighting conditions?
Posted by oliver at February 29, 2008 08:51 AMI like the graininess in this shot...
Posted by Jay at February 29, 2008 09:09 AMInteresting in that the ghost imgaes of the seat users are visible.
Posted by Eric May at February 29, 2008 09:27 AMi like it.
Posted by billo at February 29, 2008 02:16 PMVery nice composition. Nice symetry with only one unbalanced subject. The use of B and W certainly adds something. Congrats
Posted by denis at February 29, 2008 04:00 PMWow those are pretty cool looking seats. I guess Montreal has some decent designs for their stations?
Posted by Raffi at February 29, 2008 06:56 PMBeautiful image sam.
Posted by Ali at March 1, 2008 02:51 AMI went to school in the area back in 1968. and I remember those dark smudges on the reflective walls behind the seats even back then!
Posted by John G. Lyng at March 2, 2008 08:15 PMGreat tonal work on this image. The composition is fantastic and provocative in its simpleness.
Posted by Damien Franco at March 2, 2008 08:31 PMIt is such a beautiful mix of "old fashioned" atmosphere/color/grain and modernity of the subway!
Posted by matthieu at March 3, 2008 09:48 AMsuch a surreal photo. this is great inspiration for an urban fairytale.
Posted by raluca at March 3, 2008 05:13 PMReal cool how the guy creates the non-symmetry. I like the black/white with the grain too!
Posted by Jasper at March 6, 2008 05:26 AMAn amazing shot, request to put up on Flickr
