Comments: broken king

The reason this photograph works so well is there are loads of textures, The lines in the ceiling give a great sense of perspective and the titles on the floor and walls also lead your eye around the picture.

For me there are two focal points, the couple of the left and the man on the right, because of the fish eye the man on the right looks massive. I feel that I would retake this exact shoot (because it is stunning) but maybe I would wait until a train went past, put the aperture to about f/20 and give it a nice long exposure in the 15-30 second range, this would blurred the train (giving interesting light trails) and probably blur the people - although setting up a tripod down there could be frowned upon.

Still, it is a lovely image and certainly in the classic style of your work - well done and thanks for sharing.

Love the angle... which fisheye lens did you use?

LOVE it!

This is a good example of how boring a lot of your work has become. You should probably take a break - maybe Every Other Day Dose of Imagery would be a good idea.

Entire condominium towers are built in less time than it takes the TTC to make station repairs or fix an escalator. It's ridiculous and pathetic.

Very nice. Makes me wonder though how those two people are going to get by that gate. It looks locked with wire.
Lovely colors too.

Good shot Sam.

Better be careful, taking pics of subway stations. I know it is silly but there are more and more restrictions on photographers...

Wow. Very nice photo! Love the angle and composition!

woah! I've never stopped at King Station but I just might, seeing this....ha. Great picture, btw.

Love the composition here. There is so much depth in this photo, my eye keeps jumping from subject to subject. I also like the devision between the two textures of the subway tube and the hallway leading out. Great shot!

I agree with Jon above, your photos are becoming a bit boring, snapshots with a fancy lens, probably to do with the pressure of having to post daily.

So true. It's the never ending construction site.

I started working at king/bay 3+ years ago, and for that whole time I've walked past this every day. I've come to assume this is the finished product of the TTC repair.

Heh - nice use of the fisheye - I can't believe it's f2.8 ! You know on the other side of the ripped-up frame, where someone tagged 'bison', and some days later 'frame'? I made a wheat-paste of a bison (animal) with a square missing and a puzzled look and put it up..lasted 2 days : )

Interesting angles. I agree as well, this subway station has been 'under construction' forever. I've also got a handful of shots of the slooooow progress.

Very cool. Very dramatic

Great shot, I just wanted to post in respond to some of the negative feedback, even though the majority of it is positive. Please speak for yourself when you say Sam should post every other day. Some of us have been coming to this site for many years and love seeing new pictures of Toronto and other parts of the world each day.

I personally think the work here is fantastic, and on a side note, one of the things that makes a blog worthy is the amount of content and updates on it. ddoi would be letting down a lot of fans if it gave into a few who think it's boring. All of these shots are better than any I could take, so I enjoy them and there is absolutely nothing boring about this site.

I agree :)..amen to that!

Actually I am sorry for what I posted. Sam is a great photographer and I have come here a lot to see his work. Internet bitchiness got to me, but that is no excuse.
