Ahah, great shot and great title.

oustanding capture.
The whiteness of the scene + the expression of the face and the special shape of the guitar case give such a great atmosphere. One my favorite shot of you lately.
Good title as well!
Keep shooting please
Bravo encore Sam

Hey - a stunning photo, thanks! Especially considering how hot it is here in Cape Town at present, I found this quite soothing... and am amused by the "Sun" advertisement in the background ;-)
Greetings from a sweltering SA,
Pierre

Very nice!

I love this shot. The graininess of the snow really gives this image a feeling of "true grit" for this guitar hero.

Great, great, great, great shot. Just fantastic, an instant fave.

Great shot! love the texture in this one!

Amazing shot, Sam! Beautiful capture of the rushing snow, expression on the guitarist's face, and mood with black/white. I just saw the movie "Once" last night, so this is a very timely photo (if you haven't seen that film, I highly recommend it).

I can imagine myself after seeing this picture. I am from India and will be living in Toronto for studies. I will be arriving on Dec 30, 2007 and your photos prove to be an eyeopener for a tropical guy! Sitting here I can feel the chill! Sam you rock!

I love this photo and composition, looks bitterly cold out there. Winter pictures look the best in b&w.

Posted by Missy at December 20, 2007 02:36 PM

Nice title. Nice photo. Falling snow looks so different in black and white.

Interesting image on many levels.
Thanks for toughing it out & sharing Sam.
Your the best; still.
Happy Holidays to you & yours!

Love the shot, black and white suits it well.

Posted by Lily at December 20, 2007 06:54 PM

you're the real hero for sharing this image to us...wow, one of your best black and white shots...if not the most with drama and story behind it...

Posted by Junnie at December 20, 2007 08:40 PM

I'm from Toronto now living in Australia and I'm glad its 32c right now! But this reminds me of Christmas. Great capture!

That guy, with the hunched shoulders and the pinched expression, just looks cold. I love that the only Sun in the photo is the newspaper box. Nice shot.

Posted by MarkDM at December 20, 2007 11:58 PM

fantastic! I wonder if the dude knows how amazing this shot is... could make a killer CD cover

Posted by Dru at December 21, 2007 01:09 AM

Awesome shot. I live in Toronto and this makes up for the freakin' cold weather we get. I would buy this as a print. Happy holidays!

Great capture Sam! I was away and hadn't seen any of these snow shots until now. They're really amazing. To top it off I really enjoyed reading everybody else's comments. How does it feel to inspire people from around the world?

Posted by Kiana at December 21, 2007 11:11 AM

my god what a fantastic capture!

Driving snow- 10 points
Dedicated musician in shot- 10 points
Black and white- 10 points
Composition- 11 points

Once again, you made an ordinary photo outstanding.
Thanks for sharing at this time of year.

The composition is stunning. The sense of battle in walking against the fast-pushing snow is very dramatic. The choice of black and white removes anything that would distract here and allows this foto to tell the story of the guy and his desire to get out of this storm.

Posted by Abe at December 26, 2007 12:45 PM

Wow, this is AMAZING!!!

Posted by Lisa Carpenter at December 30, 2007 07:17 PM

...did you just wait on the oposite corner for something like this to happen?
I am not usualy so inclined, but this brings Cartier Bresson to my mind - splendid shot!

I agree with all the praise above. This is one of your very best, Sam. It looks as though it could have been taken any time since the sixties. I hope the subject gets to see it some time.
