Well captured.
You have great talent at capturing people.
This is like a scene from a movie.
I have said it many times, your talent may be wasted in still photography. I'd like to see your cinematography. Your eye for the dramatic and beautiful seems so keen. Id like to see some video work.
Posted by scott at October 29, 2007 08:32 AMI'd never have the courage to take a picture of someone like this. Specially of a girl.
Posted by Navin Harish at October 29, 2007 08:53 AMawesome composition. Has an almost HDR quality to it.
(train was probably delayed, as per usual. I bike everywhere)
Posted by tom at October 29, 2007 09:17 AMOthers would say that human race is so fine and advanced that has nothing to worry about but things like 'is my hair fine' or 'are my nails polished'... I mean, how does this pay his rent? At many workplaces it would be discriminated because of the outer look... I feel so sorry for such spoilers of the image of human nature...
The worst impact is those on very young and innocent children who grow up with messed feelings and perceptions...
:(

Posted by آرمین گیلهمرد at October 29, 2007 01:53 PMGreat subject to start, but brave to point the camera I say. Excellent control of the exposure too, with that white hair and light through it and black elsewhere in the scene.
Posted by ROB at October 29, 2007 04:08 PMwow, that's a strong statement! great capture.
Posted by Elinor at October 29, 2007 04:40 PMhey sam! love your work. question: did you ask that girl for permission before you took the shot or...? thanks.
Posted by scott m at October 29, 2007 06:21 PMHello from Québec, I've been a fan for 2 years now. I don't know exactly why but this picture is very appealing to me. Maybe the B/W patterns, or also this girl looking so dramatic. Thanks Sam, you are a true one.
Posted by Brigitte at October 30, 2007 12:45 AMThis is superb, I think I have to that, I mean shooting people at subway lol
Posted by Mohamadreza at October 30, 2007 06:46 AMHi Sam,
Another very interesting shot. I really like the colour in this -- it is stronger as it is than it would be in B&W, even though the colour is under-saturated. Very nice.
I wonder about the cropping, though. If the leather jacket on the left were cropped out it would move the girl out of the centre of the frame and it would make the view of her more intimate.
Just a thought.
I love your work. Thanks for being so dedicated to posting every day.
Best,
Bruce
I love the lighting in this photo. Capturing good photos in the subway always seems difficult, you did a great job here!

Posted by Erik Tjallinks at November 5, 2007 04:26 AMAnother nice one, Sam. I wish the background poster/advert was in focus, as it would juxtapose nicely with the title of her book.
Posted by brother_Ali at November 12, 2007 02:56 PMHey, I was on the train when you took this picture! I wish I'd known for sure it was you - I would have said hi. I've been following your blog for a couple of years now and really enjoy your work.
