I just love wood structures, and this one is just plain gourgeous... If you do find the "mentor" behind it, I would love to know. :)

:D
hello!
this place is called 'Karlsplatz', named after the Austrian Emperor 'Karl VI.' (1685-1740)
(see: google-maps)
the artist? no idea.
Great photo of a great work of art.
I like the way this art work plays with our minds conceptions of space. It also has a playground sense of enjoyment radiating from it. Who doesn't like a nice wooden bridge to scamper across? Mind bending and fun--beautiful too.
Posted by scott at September 3, 2007 08:54 PMSoo...another great shot??
Of course. ;)
Awesome shot Sam. What was this piece of architecture for??
Anyways, Take Care!
All the best,
Carlos
Good shot. The angle really shows the broadness of the wooden sphere and the sky. :D
Posted by Veerasundar at September 4, 2007 08:22 AMI think it's a giant sundial and the marks on the pavement are the hours. Did you take the picture shortly after noon Sam?
Posted by Sheila D at September 5, 2007 07:31 AMIt is indeed a project of the technical university vienna - they have a website with german and english text:

Great shot anyway
