Nice crisp photo. Why not consider the 24-105 IS zoom or even the 28-105 USM which is much cheaper but isn't an L-series lens, but performs well enough to warrant giving it a try.

Excellent work. The only disadvantage of the full frame 5D is that you will sometimes miss the 1.6X magnification of the XT when shooting telephoto. But its definitely worth it.

I have the 24-70mm L lens, and I highly recommend it. It's a fantastic lens!

Glad you like the new camera, but I must say that I am bummed about it.

You see, I love the 10-22mm, and I have always loved your pictures taken with it. Since the 5D can't take EF-S lenses, I suppose we will be seeing fewer ultra wide shots from you in the weeks to come. :(

(Addition to my previous comment)

I suppose since the 10-22 is really 16-35 when counting the 1.6x multiplier, the 17-40 really has almost the same range. I can live with that.

I used to walk by that spot daily and yet I never noticed the features on the side of the government building in the background (the balconies, the multi-coloured tiles). Aside from the wonderful aethestics of your work, there is value in being able to see the familiar through a different lens. Thank you, Sam.

Nice shot. I like the lines in the image.

All my respect, for the men and women who risk their lives in the pursuit of such a noble cause.

A very well captured tribute Sam. Thank you for sharing it.

Sam,

Great stuff. I have the same two cameras and love them both. The 17-40 4L too, and I have a 24-70 2.8L as well; plus a 70-200 4L. You'll have fun.

Sam, I've been following your photos for a couple of years (have topleftpixel in my work PC start-up folder!). As always, love the picture and am envious that you've now moved up to the 5D (I use a 30D). Keep up the good work - you've brightened many a dark morning here in Belfast (N Ireland).

but why do you say 5 d has a better dinamic range compared to 350 d ? what is the explanation ?

I like the picture, really nice and crisp. Consider 24-105 lens for Canon 5D. Its a great camera.

I like the picture of Four Season Centre for performing arts. It was great.

My office is located in downtown Toronto, if interested, you can use one of our faster computers to edit your picture. We got up to date software and latest hardware. I can offer you to use it for free, since you are taking great picture for city of Toronto. Its my little contribution to appreciate you as taking nice picture of beautiful Toronto.

take care,
Kelvin.

I find it interesting that you exclusively use Cannon as I had assumed that Nikon was the 'brand of choice' for most professionals.

What made you choose Cannon?

I like the composition here.

Congrats, Sam, on the new camera. I look forward to seeing more from you with it.
