So much for "Coast to Coast" !!!
Posted by Ben at May 29, 2007 02:07 AMNice composition. I like the blurred background
Posted by navin at May 29, 2007 04:40 AMIs this what Canada's flag will look like if Quebec seperates?
I like the way you've off set the flag and have the background unfocused.
Posted by William Sagle at May 29, 2007 09:08 AMThe Cub Scout in me would to run to the first flag store I could find, buy a replacement and properly dispose of this one.
Seriously, it's freaking me out.
Posted by Joe at May 29, 2007 09:25 AMCool shot. I like this one.
Posted by Alice at May 29, 2007 09:48 AMI'm a fan of your work, but this may be the first I've commented. Nice shot...

...
it's thoughtful
This is not exciting man!
Posted by patrick at May 29, 2007 10:53 AMGreat photo, I love the composition and the colours (red, green and blue) work well together. But I do wonder how it would look in black and white with the red colour of the flag masked so the background would be mono but the flag would still be coloured. It could make for an even more powerful image. It is amazingly sharp for the fact the flag is blowing in the wind. Well done and thanks for sharing!

Posted by pat at May 29, 2007 11:39 AMHalf a flag does not make half a country!!
someone should replace that flag though, it might give those separatists an idea
Posted by Brian at May 29, 2007 03:31 PMWhy do people get so worked up over a broken flag ??? It's just a used piece of fabric that follows the rules of physics...
Posted by Ben at May 31, 2007 05:01 AMvery symbolic. it's how i feel that canada has lost it's way and becoming to americanized. another soldier died in afganistan today.
Posted by genevieve at May 31, 2007 11:19 AMwell captured in its frozen fullness.
That's less than half a flag, though. I would say it's somewhere around four tenths, maybe 4 elevenths, of a flag.
Flags trouble me, as a reminder of nationalism, and human familial bonding -- an initially helpful instinct that inevitably leads to the dehumanization of people outside our empathetic spheres and the inaction of most (purhaps even all) human cruelties and evils that have occured throughout history.
I long for a day when nationalism and all its symbols may be replaced with a common human respect for people as individuals before all else without such dehumanizing sybmbols or titles. (how I long to be rid of such tools of segregation ... may they fade tomorrow it would not be too soon)
