Hi, I'd like to ask why did you use ISO400 on this photo and how would it change if you used ISO100 for example?
Posted by josé at May 5, 2007 06:21 AMquick.
grab that seat
i need one for my bike.
great shot.
"humanity,
you sick motherfucker."
Isn't this _east_ of Yonge? That's the King Eddie across the street, isn't it?
Posted by antirealist at May 5, 2007 07:21 AMpoor bike.
Posted by Keith at May 5, 2007 08:14 AMI've been viewing your daily dose of imagery for the past few months. It is nice to see the city I used to live in. But pictures like this, and a few others you have put up here make me happy I don't live there anymore. OTOH, the photo of Nathan Philips Square, with the CN Tower was beautiful.
Typical though - the beautiful photo's don't get quite the reaction out of me as do the photo's of the seamy side of life in TO!
Posted by Pete at May 5, 2007 08:31 AMSure this is west of yonge? I think the sign in the shot says King St E.
Great shot, almost looks historical.
reminds me of some of my streets here in new york.
Posted by tkny at May 5, 2007 10:04 AMHow pissed would I be if that were my bike!
Anyway I think that's east of Yonge since the King Eddy's in the background.
Posted by Neil McIntyre at May 5, 2007 11:40 AMNice street shot. It looks like another huffy has met its demise.
Posted by Justin at May 5, 2007 11:51 AMthat sucks. glad it's not my bike.
Posted by luscious at May 5, 2007 01:14 PMIf that's the King Edward Hotel on the right, then this is King St. EAST of Yonge.
Also there's a street sign (extreme left) that reads "King St. E."
Recycling?
Posted by Jim Young at May 5, 2007 04:17 PMBike... garbage... meh... uninspired.
Posted by k at May 5, 2007 04:32 PMI like the mood this type of black-and-white photo produces, it's very artsy yet not too somber.
Would love to see this kind of picture more often!
hah, nice shot. the only thing is i think you messed up the masking a little bit on the bottom lefthand corner. other than that, cool.
Posted by buyable at May 5, 2007 11:45 PMWell, that is a dirt-bike! Great B&W shot. For me those garbage piles in the middle of the street are looking quite strange, because over here in Holland you won't find them (legal ones) anymore.
Posted by javga at May 6, 2007 01:30 AMFantastic processing - the tones are terrific. The bike hiding in the trash just gives this image somewhat humour.
Posted by Michelle at May 6, 2007 01:51 AMNice photo. I like it.
Posted by alexandru savu at May 6, 2007 04:38 AMI love the ridiculousness of this shot :)
Posted by Lazo at May 6, 2007 08:42 PMJose,
At ISO 100, shutter speed would have been 1/6s or 1/8s (the lens was already wide open, so no recourse there.) The cars and pedestrains would have motion blur, not necessarily a bad thing, but different. More importantly you'd notice less sharpness due to camera shake since this was hand held at the 35mm equivalent of a 27mm focal length.
Posted by noonan at May 7, 2007 12:24 AMa lovely heep! did the bike crash into this mess ?
Posted by crash at May 8, 2007 04:34 PMgreat shot
I feel very sad for that cyclist. If that were my bike you could have gotten some real shots of me kicking garbage! I hope all that garbage isn't from one residence. Holy Crap! Your site is beautiful, btw.
Posted by sarah mcgaughey at May 28, 2007 09:16 PMOh I remember this pile up because I WALK THERE EVERYDAY GOING TO SCHOOL! lol. Overall nice shot haha.
