Belle image tout simple. ces ombres et ces traces de neige qui cassent la rigidité de l'ensemble...j'aime beaucoup.

Posted by Deny at March 26, 2007 05:15 AMHi Sam,
I think this is an alley near where I live. Just to be picky: it's actually *north* of Wellesley, about two blocks south of Charles.
I walk by it almost every day - but it's certainly never looked so good!
Posted by ajlb at March 26, 2007 07:45 AMAnother one with great tones and desaturated colors. May be the sky looks a little bit artificial ? ...
Posted by eric at March 26, 2007 09:03 AMThe patterning in the window on the ground floor is really interesting. Lots of texture here.
I Like it!
a perfect place for emptying the bladder on those cold, dark nights.
i once worked in a place that looked much like this.
only it was in Cleveland.
in 1981.
shudder, shudder.
(great shot, but you know that)
Nice leading lines. Great shot!
Posted by Alice at March 26, 2007 10:23 AMJust a thought: why not post smaller photographs, say, 800 wide?
Posted by john at March 26, 2007 11:22 AMI am enjoying your "alley series". You have become the modern day Albert J. Franck. His paintings of Toronto's back alleys in the 1940s are in collections throughout the world.
Posted by Henry at March 26, 2007 11:36 AMVery nice Sam! I love how in the bottom left hand corner the ground is dry and then gradually gets wetter until it's snow lol! nice transition I think!
Posted by Ryano at March 26, 2007 11:45 AMThis looks how I feel.......like spring is just around the corner. The shadow on the back wall looks like a premonition of things to come -- a tree sporting leaves.
Posted by kgreene at March 26, 2007 11:45 AMhey sam,
like ur photographs. great work so far. do ya name the photo after the shot, or do ya look for e.g. "shadows, sunlight and snow" motives?
cheers, xhris
Posted by chris schunk at March 26, 2007 04:04 PMThis is my favourite of the 'back alley' shots. The lighting really adds to the sense of depth. And those windows are so idiosyncratic of the old warehouse buildings that are slowly getting replaced and renovated.
Posted by Kimberly Way at March 26, 2007 04:58 PMMelting snow, bright warm sun.
Love the shadows here, especially from he tree around the corner.
Posted by Laurie at March 26, 2007 11:49 PMI'm wondering why you're spending so much time lately in alley's. What are you looking for ;-)?
Posted by Chris Nolan.ca at March 27, 2007 01:43 AMI like this shot very much! The buildings and the shadows are nice.
