Comments: notting hill gate

Notting Hill, my kind of town ;)
Great shot, great lights!

Loving the tones in this.

Lovely shot with unusual use of colour and strong perspective. As an aside, we never call the Underground the 'Metro' (Go to Paris or Washington DC for that). Everyone calls it 'the tube'; so your caption could read "Notting Hill Gate tube station in London, England". Sorry to be so pedantic...

Wow, memories arise there. Dunno how much time I spent standing there waiting for the tube!

Lovely muted shades, clarity and perspective makes a great mood here.

Awesome colours and lighting! I like the sleeping guy in the right hand corner :)

I love train stations. This is very nice.

I know around here you get scrutinized when you photograph places like this. I was questioned by security when I photographed a bridge from a park that is located beneath it. Do they give a hard time if security sees you photographing things like this?

Is that Platform 9 3/4th's to Hogwarts ?

The colours really give this photo emotion. I digg it.

I hate to be a grammar nazi, or a nazi of politically correctness, but I think the word they use is Underground, and not Metro.

Lovely shot! Around what time was it taken? =D

My eyes enjoy your composition of this piece. I, too, am a fan of architecture and I plan to be an environmental architect sometime in the future. The balance between the blue and orange shades are most pleasing.

(first time commenter on your photoblog, though, I've spend the past two days to browse through every single one of your pictures.)

great photo. the lighting looks like you would need a long exposure but the people are perfectly still. this is great architecture.

I love taking pictures at this Station as well.

gorgeous!

so clean and colorful.

love the blue next to the light fixtures nice combo

What a miserable dark hole. At my maximum monitor brightness it is impossible to know if there's a single person in the station.

Not interesting.

You're losing your artistry to endless architectural record.

Great shot, the colour rendering is especially nice.

Can we have the wallpaper size version?
Many thanks in advance...

nice colours and perspective, makes for a wonderful desktop wallpaper, be it a metro or a tube station ;) The Warsaw Metro (just a dozen stations or so, so far) is called metro, btw.

Another vote for the wallpaper-sized one please!

Really love your work - if I don't check every single day, I make sure I go back and catch up.

I've seen the place dark grey, paler grey, and a warm dusty yellow grey, but never in blue and pink! Is it impolite to ask if any filtering was involved?

Hi Sam,
A very emotional photo indeed !
Is is possible for you to post a wallpaper version of this on flickr please !
Thanks

"What a miserable dark hole. At my maximum monitor brightness it is impossible to know if there's a single person in the station. Not interesting."

Time to get a new monitor. :) I count 12 people in this picture.

I also count 12 people in this photo, 11 on the left side and 1 on the right side. I've seen Hugh complain multiple days about the darkness of these photos, but the real issue is your monitor Hugh. The photo is fine, probably on the brink of being overexposed or given too much contrast.

Really cool place, and I love the lighting regardless of how the effect was achieved.

Posted by elaine at February 6, 2007 01:32 PM

it is very nice!..I like to go there just watch !...

Wow. I always thought that the "Metro" system here in Montreal was so pathetically ugly. Can't compare to this.

Posted by Marco at February 6, 2007 03:11 PM

Great tones and great perspective

Posted by Ryano at February 6, 2007 06:23 PM

I like this one quite a bit, especially the lights and the architecture. What time of day was it taken?

Posted by Kelly at February 6, 2007 06:47 PM

Great shot-it feels like I'm standing there. Love the soft glow of the lights and the contrasting colors. Nice capture!
