Comments: ice and penguin

Wow! Great pictures!

LINUX rules!! :) But the ice house looks certainly cool. Wonder what sort of dreams one would have sleeping on an ice bed.. probably the dream recurring most often would be the one in which you are drowning in an icy lake ;)

They were giving away copies of Vista Ultimate and Office Pro but I wasn't lucky enough to win (yes, I'm a Windows user!)..
Well that explains the LACK of pics of Tux and the ppl that wre there supporting LinuX :P

Posted by afro.da.samurai at February 4, 2007 04:27 AM

The first one is "wow" !!!

Frozen! That's what I feel about Vista. As far as my experience trying to get information from the Vista site - bummer - useless. Not at all encouraging. Too much graphic flash and nothing I want.

Boring pictures here - even Linux doesn't make it a laugh. I'll be happy to see their ice house melt.

Grrrr!

As immpressive as it looks, Why did they go for an Ice Structure to promote their new operating system.

Are they trying to tell us it still freezes all the time ;)

Great photos, as always.
Can't say I feel the same about Vista!
;-)

"yes, I'm a Windows user!"
Sam, my son, now that you have made known your transgression, repent and turn around from this abomination, seeking forgiveness. You will then feel the warm rays of sunshine melt away the ice.

Heh, it looks like vista has already frozen! The ice house is a cool idea at least, and these are nice shots.

I hope the Linux penguin ticked the Microsoft people off!

I love the shot of the bed with what looks like a bear-skinned rug on it. And the lady in the kitchen photo looks like an eskimo in an ice house! (Just my opinion.)

"yes, I'm a Windows user!"
Haha! Don't fret. I'm a Mac-user and I used Windows Vista yesterday. I must admit: It's actually really nice! (Very beautiful interface.)

Microsoft has done some very interesting promos for this product: Dancers in front of the Taj Mahal, acrobats hanging from buildings in Times Square, the Champs-Élysées lit in Windows colors. UM, THEY HAVE WAY TOO MUCH FRIGGIN MONEY! :)

Like the first shot showing the ice very well. The ice house looks very cool. Wish I was there too :D

Posted by Mohamadreza at February 4, 2007 02:16 PM

wow congratulations. the penguin is a nice touch

Look at Mr. Linux Penguin... scheming.

Or is he plotting?

Posted by Jordan Daye at February 4, 2007 02:40 PM

ahahaha, that's funny that someone set up a linux penguin across the street. I so wish I had stopped by. I heard them doing a draw as I passed by but I didn't know what the draw was for :(

Posted by David at February 4, 2007 03:29 PM

Despite my sheer and utter distaste for Microsoft...these shots are excellent. As are all the images you post.

Posted by renee at February 4, 2007 06:33 PM

ah, but you are smart sam, using the penguin to offset the wrath of the linux loving hippies who would have dragged you over the coals for shooting and publishing vista pix two days in a row

i am win user too, but i love linux, the hippie comment was just a joke :)

Posted by sami at February 4, 2007 06:40 PM

Despite my dislike for Windows, that is a pretty cool ice house (pun not originally intended). However, I'm not too happy with your continue devotion to Windows... tsk tsk!

Posted by Ash at February 4, 2007 06:42 PM

While, as usual, your shots are beautifully sharp and have perfect use of selective, clean color, sometimes you let your tech interests become a little too obvious. :)

Posted by Andrew at February 4, 2007 09:45 PM

O god you were lucky that you didn't win. who cares about windows anyway ;-)

Posted by Mo at February 4, 2007 11:40 PM

Dude someone should have hired a whole team of Playboy or Hawaiian Tropics models to dance around tux in tux bikinis.

Dear Sam,

I used Windows Vista!
FACT: I'm a Mac user.
BUT: Vista LOOKS GREAT!! That's right. But that's all!! It just looks good. It needs a supercomputer to run! yeah. It has the worst system memory management ever. I tested it on a friend machine with 2GB of memory and it somehow used all that with just three apps running at the same time and there were no memory left for the forth app to run. I expected a more competitive product from Microsoft after all these years!

As always nice pictures but I hope that someday when I read your pictures' exif info I find Adobe Photoshop Macintosh instead of Windows!!

Posted by Ali at February 5, 2007 05:04 PM

Great photos indeed. Sadly it breaks me up inside to hear you aren't a fan of mac os or linux.

Posted by Krishna at February 5, 2007 06:07 PM

very neat shots as always particularly the one of yourself in the ice mirror

(Also, os x + paralells = mac + windows at the same time when needed with the goodness of mac. mmmmm) no more dual boot. all in one interface.. I liiiikkkeee.

TUX!!! I love Tux the Penguin. I Googled under images the word 'photographer. A picture of yours from over a year ago popped up on the 1st page. I went looking through time and I love your site. I can really see your work progressing and I enjoy it throughly. One question...I notice a garbage theme...Any particular reason for using trash as a medium? Not complaining, just enjoying :)

Posted by Jesse at February 6, 2007 09:49 AM

i like your images.
i don`t like windows.
i want summer.

Posted by grischdian at February 7, 2007 07:54 AM

Mac vs. PC? This is a photography discusion group people, like, get with it or you know whatever.

Gosh! You're all so... NOT.

Besides I use BeOS on my Power PC clone and nothing can hold a candle to it.

Ummmm... Yeah. So anyone want to talk about Star Trek?

Posted by Chubby Monkey at February 8, 2007 08:14 PM

What's wrong with Mac OS X ?
Works perfectly and a really good selection of applications available and in addition not from Microsoft.
Best regards, great photographs on your page!

Posted by Sebastian at February 11, 2007 02:01 PM

I check out your pictures regularly but am sad to hear, as are a few others, I see, that you used a Mac for so long and still didn't like it. I couldn't dream of being on a computer if it wasn't a Mac. Maybe in a nightmare. Keep shooting!
