great shot, very raw. i love it!

That truck looks totally ruined. The lighting in the cab is great.

i just noticed how early/late you post everyday!

love the picture!

Amazing shot ... I very much like the old rusty stuff and the way light got through the windshield. And last but not least ... the window ... it's like watching the present from the past. 10 out of 5.

May I request a bigger version and also the original shot.

Thanks a lot for sharing these amazing shot with the world.

PS: This shot is definitely going to be on your second book, right?

Nice perspective

Gloriously cinematic. The figure seen through the window just makes it perfect.
You must be v happy with this shot. Thanks for sharing.

Wow.. that light! I can't quite figure it out - extremely well done, Sam. How you managed to get both outside and inside well exposed is amazing. Did you do any PS work here?

In any case - a winner shot.

Nice shot! I love old autos.

Nice image !

More than old truck i think is a Prehistoric truck ! :-)

Beautiful pictures.

Great perspective. Quick of you to notice and get this. The view out beyond makes it.

And I'd say it surely is one miserable looking day for Toronto the usually warmer winter experience.

You are one hard nosed seeker of the graphic.

ooooofff!
very nice!

Posted by Ali at January 17, 2007 09:37 AM

I'm sure everyone will say this, but you've got a refreshing perspective here, Sam. Wonderful implementation of your wide-angle and nice, muted, atmospheric tones inside the truck.

Looks more like ancient to me...ha ha. Great picture.

Posted by Jennifer at January 17, 2007 10:28 AM

does anybody drive this, i wonder.
your 10-22 rules! ..partly because they're in the right hands though.

Great window through a window framing!

Posted by Kevin at January 17, 2007 10:44 AM

looks like the truck i once had that was stolen and burnt to shit when i was a kid.

sad. but looks exactly how i saw in the pic.

Posted by Calogero at January 17, 2007 10:45 AM

Wow...once again, you have managed to take an eye-sore and turn it into an amazing photograph. Nice work Sam!

Posted by Melanie Oliveira at January 17, 2007 10:52 AM

I like the broken window as a second frame. Nice composition!

Brrr!

Another cool shot. I was curious Sam, since like me, you run around everywhere with your camera taking photos. How often are you harassed about it? How do you deal with it when you are? I have a list of encounters with rent a cops, NYC police, etc. With the latest being at lunch today when the manager of a restuarant ran up to me and was drilling me about taking photos of my own food! I get pretty frustrated since I avoid shooting people, and flash of any kind. Maybe Canadians aren't as paranoid as Americans about someone with a larger camera.

Keep up the awesome work man.

Great photo Sam. Thanks :)

They likely use that truck in some films they shoot here in the big smoke.

Vraiment de superbes photos

Posted by Bruno at January 17, 2007 03:38 PM

I think the truck by itself is good, but not that exciting. What's stunning to me is the way that the perspective of the cab carries your eye to the man walking down the street... a sort of picture within a picture. And an amazing job of balancing the lighting.

Bonjour,
Great detail, tones and dof! Bravo!

Posted by jelb at January 17, 2007 07:26 PM

After that! I refuse to lend you my car.

Posted by namaste at January 17, 2007 08:08 PM

This truck is "frozen" in time...

Posted by Alex at January 17, 2007 09:13 PM

Good shot!
Nice idea in composition with window!
Great tones and textures!

I live in San Diego, where winter is a relative thing. The other morning, somebody found it necessary to call the cops to tell them that there was some sort of substance on the road making people slip around.

This exotic material turned out to be something called "ice."

Anyway, nice, wintry shot, Sam.

Posted by MarkDM at January 18, 2007 12:13 AM

it reminds me of 'Road to Perdition'

Posted by negar at January 18, 2007 09:24 AM

I have been through the District recently and shot the same truck(s). Never thought of your angle...brilliant. Ice was a bonus.

Posted by Patrick Marcella at January 19, 2007 12:30 AM

You are making me want to buy this lens. Great wide perspective and tones.

Posted by Abe at January 20, 2007 12:19 PM

I was there, too! I took pictures of the same truck on vacation and am excited (being, as I am, amatuer)- great shot and I hope for eyes like yours... and lens like that
