That dog is craaaaaazy HANDSOME! I wish to pet him ASAP!

Posted by Jason at January 13, 2007 02:57 AM

Haha he does look like a silent-era comedic star. :)

Posted by PlasticTV at January 13, 2007 03:12 AM

so this serious look must be a part of his sense of humour.

Posted by arash at January 13, 2007 03:43 AM

He is more kind than serious!

Posted by Kamira at January 13, 2007 03:45 AM

Holy sweet friggin' Jesus ! One of the best dog pictures ever ! Bravo !

Posted by Ben at January 13, 2007 03:58 AM

An absolutely wonderful portrait Sam. There's so much character in that 10 week old face. One of your very best shots.

Posted by s|Na at January 13, 2007 07:00 AM

very nice picture..looks like a stern politician

Posted by Kaushik at January 13, 2007 07:22 AM

Awwwww....woof! So cute!

He looks sweet to me. Looks like the perfect pose too. How did you get him to tilt his head so nicely and get him to look slightly off to the side that way? He looks like he could have been a human taking direction on how to pose for the shot. Love it!

Posted by Laurie at January 13, 2007 08:26 AM

It reminds me Sir Alfred Hitchcock: thoughtful, moody, and perhaps a little impish.

Posted by The Gifted Typist at January 13, 2007 08:28 AM

Bulldogs always seem pugnacious but are usually, to my experience, quite friendly. I've found the same for pit bulls too. But any dog can turn on someone and it may have more to do with the person than the dog, I think.

Good shot!

I love bulldogs! So much (human) emotion in this dog's face. Love it.

Posted by Sean Galbraith at January 13, 2007 09:21 AM

Wow. What an outstanding portrait of a dog! So much character. :D

Posted by Andrea at January 13, 2007 10:30 AM

thats either one super clean dog or fantastic editing work!

Posted by Khalid at January 13, 2007 11:09 AM

Great, great portrait! Definitely a connection between photographer and subject.

Posted by Kim at January 13, 2007 11:53 AM

One of the best portraits I have ever seen! The pose of the puppy and the expression on his face suggest an immense amount of character in this dog. I might be reading (or looking) too much into the picture, but it was very striking when I saw it. Good job!

Posted by Teo at January 13, 2007 12:18 PM

I don't get how you can shoot at 1/15s handheld with a 60mm lens. You must be extremely steady on your hands. Go brain surgeon!

Great photo and cute dog! :)

Posted by Christian Wiedel at January 13, 2007 12:32 PM

what a k...i dog!!!

Posted by negar at January 13, 2007 12:43 PM

adorable.

Posted by shula at January 13, 2007 12:50 PM

he looks so wise:)

Posted by hadi at January 13, 2007 12:52 PM

His expression is almost human--good job on this one.

Posted by Jonathan at January 13, 2007 12:57 PM

cute dog. something new here at ddoi but i like it. you should do more photos like this.

Posted by Andrew at January 13, 2007 01:01 PM

wow. great photo AND you got a puppy to hold still.

Posted by observer at January 13, 2007 01:08 PM

Awesome. It's so hard to get great shots of puppies, and this one is outstanding.

Posted by Kent Blumberg at January 13, 2007 01:26 PM

Yet another great photo. I normally just lurk, but not today: doesn't he look just like Orson Welles?

Andy

Posted by Andy at January 13, 2007 01:31 PM

Amazing! This is not just a photo of a dog, it's a real portrait. There's something almost human about the dog's face, like he's trying to look as serious and important as possible while having his portrait done.

Posted by Jan at January 13, 2007 01:32 PM

Haha he looks like a hoot to have around!

Posted by Jeff Ambrose at January 13, 2007 01:35 PM

LOVE THIS. Wonderful dog portrait.... the expression is perfect along with the detail of the fur and folds and whiskers.

Posted by Diane - Daily Walks at January 13, 2007 02:06 PM

wow, small world I suppose... I saw turbo one day (and your co-worker I guess) at the pet value at college and agusta while buying fish food.

Posted by Tyler at January 13, 2007 02:13 PM

great shot Sam

Posted by davvid at January 13, 2007 02:43 PM

He definitely looks like a little hell-raiser! Something about the expression in his eyes. Great shot!

Posted by Alice at January 13, 2007 02:51 PM

I found your site when Digg was down the other evening and the Digg crew had their favourite sites/blogs there - yours was there and I have to say I'm so very impressed with your shots. Thank you. I return daily.
;-)

Hey Sam, just joined a circle of your admirers couple of days ago.
It will be a repeat but he's incredibly human. Whoever said animals have no souls?

Posted by Jacek at January 13, 2007 03:19 PM

Great shot. I see you are enjoying your 60mm Macro lens ;)...I like how the right eye (dog's right) is a bit blurry when the other one is sharp and looking straight at you. adds much to the seriousness of the face...One question for you: Which one YOU prefer? EF-S 60 or the EF 100? considering that you can use the 100 on full size sensors too!!

Posted by nariman at January 13, 2007 04:06 PM

Lovely shot. 1/15 seconds at 60 mm, though--tripod, IS or very good technique?

Posted by mwg at January 13, 2007 04:25 PM

Great photo. The only criticism I have is that the depth of field is a little too shallow. I think the ear on the right should have been in focus, it's a bit distracting like this.

Posted by Sean at January 13, 2007 08:30 PM

Nice portrait. Almost looks human! scary... :-)

Posted by Djiwôm at January 13, 2007 08:30 PM

Posted by joseph at January 14, 2007 01:14 PM

John Houseman, from "The Paper Chase" and those Smith-Barney commercials, reincarnated in dog form. Great portrait.

Posted by MarkDM at January 15, 2007 12:23 AM

Very good focus!
Nice contrasts and details.

I love your photos and try to come to this page at least a couple times a week to look and see what you post. This one just stopped me in my tracks. It is just too perfect, especially the way it really captures his personality...I feel like I could reach through the screen and pet him. Bravo!!

Posted by Coffespaz at January 18, 2007 03:47 PM

wow, i love it! the expression on his face seems to say, "wuttup?".

Posted by marie at January 20, 2007 12:32 AM

And shattering glass tables.
