Gorgeous shot of a normally hideous building :) Did you take this in the early throes of morning?

Wow, you made one of the ugliest buildings in all of Toronto look beautiful. Nice shot.

Anyone who can make THIS building look attractive deserves applause!

Impressive building, nice light and pleasantly framed in the foliage.

A great use of light to capture some great architecture.

i live in the residence in front of robarts library, and i have to pass the library everyday. when i do, i keep thinking how depressing/ugly it looks like, but it looks completely amazing in this picture.

How I hate this place.. but beautiful picture. The real challenge is making the inside look half as good haha...

Beautiful building.

Like most U of T students, I hate this building with a passion.

See that trigular structure sticking out? I was studying up there once many years ago. That was the time when I could see those Fa Lun Gong people practising down below every thursday.

Stunning photo of this building! Your photos are always impressive - I love your view of Toronto. Thanks!

This building feels immense!

Glorious Robarts! classic shot!

Was it ever confirmed if the building was deseigned to intentionally resemble a turkey?

Ps. Really enjoying the 2007 spacing calendar and also the shot of the Montreal couple's knees just beyond the hill from a couple days ago. It's very lovely and intimate, in a city no less.

It's funny, I actually *love* this building. Reminds me of a time of optimism. Although maybe it's because I'm a structural engineer and a nerd. Beautiful building. Beautiful shot.

"batman! commisioner gordon is calling us to gotham city!"

"to the batmobile robin!"

Former UofT student here and I still cringe whenever I pass that building. Even the death I heard about the building's namesake is depressing. I heard it was built to resemble a peacock/phoenix.

This shot of the building makes me think of quartzes/prisms.

Posted by Chris at December 27, 2006 08:15 PM

It is not an ugly building! Though it does somewhat resemble the mothership or deathstar from certain angles. Maybe it will blast off one day.

Great Shot.

Was at U of T when it was built.

Then called Fort Book.

You really are a good photographer if you can make this building look good! It's actually sinking into the ground a little bit each year, because the architectural engineers who designed it did not account for weight of the millions of books that it holds - it is the second largest library in North America, second only to Princeton. And it really does look like a peacock from a certain angle.

yayy it's the giant turkey!!
but seriously, that building is an architectural atrocity. great idea getting it at an angle where it isn't asymmetrical.
