Do you have an email address I could contact you at. I have some questions concerning your book I was hoping you could answer for me.

Posted by Peter at December 18, 2006 02:22 AM

you know what? this one reminds me some great scenes from 'Beraka', a 1992 film by Ron Fricke. there are some fabulous scenes like this in Baraka and all in all, these sequences show me absurdities of modern life. huge thanks for your shot(s) and see that motion picture, in case you haven't yet :)

Posted by Mohammad at December 18, 2006 02:23 AM

wow!
i remember seeing some time back, it sure looks nice!

Posted by oscar at December 18, 2006 02:26 AM

Posted by shane j montgomery at December 18, 2006 02:28 AM

great idea, sam - how long did you take the images for? You never sem to run out of creative ideas - kudos!

Posted by Mohamed Somji at December 18, 2006 02:35 AM

Really Awesome Idea! I have been following Daily Dose of Imagery.. This one is pretty cool :-)! Should try it out, when i get my own dslr..!

Posted by Karthick R at December 18, 2006 03:23 AM

That is so cool!

Posted by florence98 at December 18, 2006 03:26 AM

this is REALLY cool

Posted by ken at December 18, 2006 03:37 AM

This is cool, and a good ad for Pclix (are they paying you enough for this?)

I would love to see what it would look like if the exposure time was the same as the time in between photos. In this case a 10 second exposure matches with photos every 10 seconds. Or a shorter one with 2 and 2 or something.

Posted by Take More Photos at December 18, 2006 03:52 AM

Magic, Sam. I's been ages since you did one of these lapses. This one is a DILLY! So, Pcix for Christmas, then....

Posted by paddy at December 18, 2006 05:14 AM

Wow. Thats amazing! How long did you have to sit around?

Posted by Joshua Chan at December 18, 2006 05:16 AM

Awesome compilation of photos and a great take on a classic idea. I've always thought it would be a wonderful thing to see someone do this over a year in a park setting to watch the seasons change!

At first instant, I was disappointed with the photograph...until I noticed it was moving. "It's alive, it's alive!" and all that. What can I say, but utterly fascinating!

Posted by John at December 18, 2006 09:04 AM

Posted by Thomas at December 18, 2006 10:40 AM

That was a bit intense logging on at 6am.

Cool sequence, once my eyes adjusted.

Posted by Philip at December 18, 2006 11:39 AM

Excellent Sam, I love your unique ability to find new ways of showing cool images.

Posted by Craig at December 18, 2006 12:29 PM

Great sequence I've been wanting to try this for a while.

Posted by Jeff Ambrose at December 18, 2006 12:52 PM

Well, simply fabulous. Really cool to see something like this pop-up on a photoblog. I'm curious... Maybe you add a little piece in your forums about the workflow to get this online: setup, transfering shots (straight to your computer?), processing so many photots, building the SWF.... et al. I'd love to hear more!

Posted by Daniel Seguin at December 18, 2006 01:38 PM

i like how the red car parks right underneath the light as if to say "hey look at me, im red"

very like "Koyannisqatsi"

Posted by James Chadwick at December 18, 2006 05:17 PM

simply awesome ! Just a fantastic visual experience ! I have some questions :

1. what was the time of the first picture and the time of the last shot as well ?

2. how many pictures were taken between the two (well I can calculate that from your previous answer but I'm not very good in maths ;-) ).

Thanks Sam for your great pictures... I'm waiting a bit after the rush of christmas to buy your book. I hope you're shipping in France as well :-).

Posted by Francois at December 18, 2006 05:29 PM

This could have been of something more interesting. Maybe of the skyline with clouds/sunset/sunrise or something. But a parking lot?

Posted by Adam at December 18, 2006 05:47 PM

Great idea!! It would be interesting to do it with a city at night. Thus one could see the lights turning on, and off, and on, and off...
Very good job!

Posted by Djiwôm at December 18, 2006 06:20 PM

this is life ,coming & going.very intersting.

Posted by effat at December 18, 2006 06:36 PM

I love the buses, memories of sketchy nights catching a ride out of town.

Loved your Interview on Here & Now, and gaining a little insight into how you see our amazing city.

Peace,

i could say this about any of your photos, but i will say this here and now because this particular set of images is so unique; you are a wonderful artist, thank you for capturing our beautiful city on film

Posted by mike at December 19, 2006 01:50 AM

Very cool. I like the way you use both still photograph and these timelapse movies, which I have tried to make as well, but never with a very good result! :-)

Posted by Thomas Solberg / Project neXus at December 19, 2006 02:47 AM

mesmerizing. i'm in the red car during frame 324.

Posted by mlLk at December 19, 2006 09:41 AM

Posted by Joseph Yachimec at December 19, 2006 01:58 PM

So, this is from what tme to what time?
I'm expecting from 8 AM to midnight. So one picture every 10 seconds means 6 pics every min which means 6*60*16 pics...Am I close?

Hey Sam,

Thought you'd like to know that this post was recently highlighted on Pizzeria Uno's eNewsletter, "The Deep Dish." Pretty random, but their newsletters usually are. I don't know how many subscribers they have, but I'd be willing to bet they number in the 5-to-6 digit range. Nice going. Let me know if you'd like a copy...
