Comments: crashed bike

Aye Dios Mio...
nice picture, bad scenario. that accident looks pretty brutal, but atleast it wasn't as bad as it could've been...

Once again- I'm impressed.
precision in contrast, color and composition make
this one so expressive.

that policecar detail is awesome, it really makes the story complete.

Nice shot! love the reflections and that you don't notice at first that the bike has been involved in a accident.

Posted by Lars Gundersen at December 7, 2006 04:06 AM

The tones are amazing, at first I wasn't even aware it was part of an accident

Hope he is well too

Wow. This is indeed a very nice shot!

Posted by elyne at December 7, 2006 06:02 AM

OUCH...Not a good thing. I hope the rider fully recovers. Great black and white of an unfortunate incident.

Posted by Laurie at December 7, 2006 06:48 AM

Sure is hard to tell what is going on in this photo. Personally, I think you cropped it too tight - needs some space, around the front end especially, to better clarify the mess (making a mess clear seems a bit oxmoron, but..)

Hitting a car is one mountain no bike can climb.

Having survived a similar accident 58 years ago I feel for the rider.

Amazing reflection! The wheel has been totaly snapped from the forks! Must have been one hell of a smash up..

Posted by Craig at December 7, 2006 07:43 AM

This bike climbed Mount Washington but did not escape the accident in town...
Excellent shot!

Shooting in black and white normally gives a slightly historic look but with your camera the resolution and detail it captures just blows the feeling out of the water. Very fascinating.

Posted by Graham at December 7, 2006 08:19 AM

ACK! What, are you trying to kill me? Great photo though, good hilights and reflections.

Posted by Scott Murdoch at December 7, 2006 09:21 AM

This photo is so crisp it feels like it's right on my desk!

Posted by Tim at December 7, 2006 09:35 AM

Nice contrast. I hope the rider is okay.

Posted by Andrew at December 7, 2006 10:09 AM

this is breath-taking,a perfect shot.yeah the reflection made it a perfect shot. no comment needed.the pic was speakig by itself...

Posted by saleh at December 7, 2006 10:59 AM

your photos are absolutely fantastic! i love the black and white effect on this one

Posted by laurenXoconnor at December 7, 2006 11:06 AM

Wow. You know, the shot is so detailed, it could be submitted as evidence of some kind. I'm sure the police took shots of their own and collected all the info they needed, but for sheer detail I doubt they'd be more useful than this one.

Congrats on being a finalist in the 2006 Weblog Awards. I saw it at Elisson's place.

Yeah, the reflection at the bottom makes you realise all the things that must be going on at the same time.
What's more the same pattern is repeated several times. I can see it three times...
Very well done!

Beautiful shot!

Posted by Chris at December 7, 2006 07:41 PM

What a time to have your 70-200 with you! The police car in the reflection of the bike tells the story. Great shot, Sam. Great b&w conversion.

Posted by Abe at December 8, 2006 12:26 AM

Nice bike and I can see the owner of this bike took a lot of pride in keeping it looking good. I can see the reflections on all those chrome parts.

Posted by navin at December 8, 2006 12:52 AM

Maybe they can get a second sticker now, "This Bike Battled an SUV and Lost."
