Comments: tired cactus

lol.. good title. I could not believe my eyes when I saw the word "cactus" in the title and then waited for the pic to download.. it's not the subject you have ever covered on here, I believe. And I used to be an avid grower of cacti (in flower pots of course, on my window sill)... so I just got to love this shot :)

So many possible jokes... must avoid temptation!

dull, boring, lame

This is really an engaging shot. It all works well together, the colors and textures. I think the curtain on the door is most unusual. The cactus adds whimsy to the shot. It looks like it's hugging the wall.

Interesting bend! Nice capture Sam.

A plant out of its natural space and in need. I've grown hundreds of these from seed.

As one friend said, "Cactus don't like being touched". They certainly seem so, but they actually collect water through the spikes.

It's notable that everywhere you go that there are plants available people will do what they can to decorate an otherwise tawdry condition with them.

I also note the electrical outlets found ever more about the old world.

Nicely spotted! That old cactus looks like some sort of mutant cactus/lizard creature (a caczard?) trying to climb the wall... :-)

Excellent ! A depressive cactus... liberate it ! Beautiful picture.

Posted by BuZz at December 1, 2006 08:23 AM

That's great. It also reminds me of a lizard crawling out of the pot.

I love the way the cacus just is tied there. Its like a freak from all the other ones in the pot.

Dear Sam.....how WONDERFUL and QUIRKY are you!!!!! Yet again you have made my day(and given what it is "doing " out there today, weather-wise, that is not an easy task). This has put a chuckle in my heart, and a smile on my face. Thank you.

"Tired" indeed — but very prolific nonetheless!

That is one very odd cactus.

Posted by Fellow Eskimo at December 1, 2006 07:42 PM

Don't think I've ever seen a dejected cactus before. Or maybe it just wants to look at the plant next to it?

Posted by Micah at December 2, 2006 11:54 AM

Tired?? That cactus was strangled! Some lunatic who just committed cacticide is running loose in the streets and all you people can do is go "tired... haha... funny cactus tired....hahahah... haha... tired...hahah"

pathetic

Good eye. Good exposure.
I really like the ribs of the cactus, curtin and shutter and the texture of the wall.
The colors work well together.
I think the bottom 1/3 of the image is a bit cluttered and distracting. I think cropping (at least below the rim of the round pot and maybe up to the top of the grey coal hatch on the left) would make this a great shot.
Nice variety of images and locations on your site.
