Aha so YOU were one of those geeks as well at the Wii queue from yesterday's post? :P
Posted by Hitesh Sawlani at November 20, 2006 04:08 AMWow! Great still life!
Posted by Photorama at November 20, 2006 04:36 AMWoW, cool~!
never seen macro of such kind before. nice one!
Thanks for the pointers. I'll keep them in mind :) Great pic
Posted by Graham at November 20, 2006 06:02 AMThanks for the tip. I use desk lamps too, but never thought to put tracing paper over them. It's a good idea, I'll give it a try.
Oh, and congratulations on getting the Wii! I'm very jealous.
Posted by dalton at November 20, 2006 07:41 AMLovely soft macro shot. Haven't seen any shots like these from you recently.
Great job!! Love it. Thanks!
Too soft focus for my taste. Also seem to note the light center in the reflections. I recall, that many years ago, it was said the big commercial studios shooting cars for the big three would spray them with condensed milk to cut the reflections. Many tricks in the book.
But it sure is hard to feel turned on by this picture, Sam. Maybe it's just my antipathy towards these modern electronic games. I can develop the same skill with the start-stop buttons on a stop watch. All the bells and whistles (bullets and bodies) are just that.
Um? I must be in bad shape when I can write this much about a boring button.
May our day get more interesting.
Posted by Hugh Petrie at November 20, 2006 07:56 AMThat's really cool, Sam. Well done.
Posted by Mohammadreza Aghajani at November 20, 2006 07:58 AMThis button is all I've seen for the past 48 hours. Well done.
Posted by Justin Gaynor at November 20, 2006 09:02 AMIt looks almost like a drop of water over a letter A, or a paperweight magnifier on a letter A. Really interesting photo. I like it.
Posted by Laurie at November 20, 2006 09:24 AMVery interesting. I don't know what one of those remotes look like so now you need to take a shot of the whole remote.
Posted by Nate at November 20, 2006 09:28 AMWait a minute. I just saw the previous photos of the people camping. Did you pre-order yours or did you wait in one of those lines too? Or was someone just nice enough to let you use theirs for the shot?
Posted by Nate at November 20, 2006 09:33 AMIs that a subliminal way of telling us that you are a proud owner of the new wii? ;-)
Posted by Alexander at November 20, 2006 09:36 AMThat's stunning. Did you manage to get your hands on a Wii? I have a 360 for "serious" gaming, but I must say, the Wii is very tempting...
Posted by Ash at November 20, 2006 09:48 AMGood work, has a very clinical feel to it - very urban, which I guess is what the new console is all about.
Posted by Craig at November 20, 2006 10:25 AMi've heard that wax/parchment paper works well also
Posted by b.p. at November 20, 2006 10:28 AMBeautiful photo...and I'm jealous ;)
Posted by Jill at November 20, 2006 11:30 AMThat's a pretty boring shot for those of us who greatly admire your archetectural and city photos.
I hope that gadget won't keep you off the streets.
r u sure it's not a Silicone Gel Breast Implant?
Posted by negar at November 20, 2006 12:15 PMIt looks like you and me are the only ones who got Wiis
Isin't the Wii AMAZING?! I LOVE mine.
Posted by Ben at November 20, 2006 12:53 PMDo you use halogen or tungston bulbs in your table lamps? I was just wondering As I'm having terrible trouble getting the white balance correct on my 400D in doors.

Posted by micki at November 20, 2006 05:02 PMHonestly, if I didn't know better, I'd swear this was just an illustrator project.

Posted by RobTurboGA at November 28, 2006 10:05 AMI just started coming to this site today, I saw it on the Weblog Awards. I'm a graphic designer, trying to get into photography (haven't taken serious pictures since college) and I find your photos so beautiful and inspiring. I love architecture shots most of all. Imagine my surprise to see that you're also a Wii owner. :) my code: 2418 8524 7963 1079
