July! July! A great band indeed. Nice shot with available light, too.

How on earth did you get this picture at 100ASA ? Everytime I try I seem to need 1600 ASA !!

Posted by Mark at November 7, 2006 06:15 AM

Excellent shot in such dark conditions!

Bonjour,
Nice shot..Good exposure!..Bravo!

I've never heard of the Decemberists, but you must be one of the hippest Iranians on earth, Sam. No wonder you left your home.

My wish is your homeland will get it right and you will enjoy returning more. But I don't know that we'd want to lose you to your homeland, even if the web is a world wide open door. Your energy level seems overwhelming. Early moring to late night.

Maybe I'm just getting old.

Great capture. Always love your concert shots.

Please say they played 16 Military Wives!

I've been visiting this site for over a year now and I just keep finding new reasons why I love it. First Muse and now The Deceberists! My two favorites. Love it! Keep it up.

I was there too. Fun show.

Sam, I agree with Hugh Petrie. You are pretty hip for an Iranian! :) The picture is awesome. I especially like the red balloons/japanese lanterns as they add a nice splash of colour and create a very cool effect. Next time I see you in Arta Gallery I'm going to work up my courage and come and shake your hand! LOL! Until then keep up the good work!

I just fell off my chair! I was there too, standing directly in front of Jenny, and I can't believe you were too! (I don't live in Toronto so it's kind of a big deal to have been in the same room as the guy whose website I visit so frequently.)

Strangely enough I mentioned you to the friends I was with last night when, on the way to the haus I saw the moon between some skyscrapers looking east on King. Never thought I'd see this pic (awesome btw) today! Thanks for a great pick-me-up.

P.S. I know this probably isn't the most appropriate forum, but I'm looking at jumping into DSLR with a Pentax K100D. I was looking strongly at the Nikon D50 but the Henry's guy put forth some convincing arguments for Pentax. Does anyone have any thoughts?

Nice shot, I hope to get a couple photos when I see them in Chicago on the 11th. I love that band, I have seen them before and can't wait to experience it again.

The Decemberists are just about my favourite band, too. I saw them live the first two times they came to the UK. The first time without about 50 other people in the back of the Freebutt pub in Brighton.

Incredible photo for the conditions.

Any way to get this as a wallpaper? Great shot.

Thats an awesome shot. I just picked up tickets for the Nov. 17th show here in Seattle literally an hour ago, I can't wait!

Posted by flatrabbit at November 7, 2006 07:28 PM

Wow, what a big band. They have like 8 people. What is the guy on the far left playing?

Posted by Andrew at November 7, 2006 09:52 PM

Hey I was there as well :)

Great show.. and yes, great band. Nice photo as well. Please post a bigger version.

Posted by sikander at November 7, 2006 10:50 PM

Fabulous! I love them. :o)

Posted by Elissa at November 7, 2006 10:51 PM

hey, the decemberists. they played at the apple store where i work in SoHo NYC last week. They were def best band that played for cmj festival all week at the store. Love the shot, especially since it's at 100ISO. That's amazingly clear and unblurred for 100ISO in what looks like really dark lighting. Great work, i love looking at your site daily.

Posted by paul at November 7, 2006 11:09 PM

Shit that was you. You were totally in front of me on the rush out the door. Blue zip up hoodie if I remember correctly. And yes the show was damn good.

Posted by Darren at November 8, 2006 12:16 AM

I have to agree, a very good photo in such dark condition...very well executed

Great photo, and an incredible show! This was when they performed "Sons and Daughters" and members of the opening band (with Alasdair Roberts) joined in to sing "Hear all the bombs fade away" - mojo directed across the border to influence elections. :)

The guy on the left is playing the hurdy gurdy! Can't wait to see them again.

So crisp. Amazing how good this little cult classic Canon is. However here, I think it is more about the photographer's skill than the camera doing all the work.

Posted by Abe at November 9, 2006 10:47 PM

Very beautiful :-)
