I note the gentleman is reading a Bible. They do have a distinctive appearance.

Interesting textures in the wall and benches.

Seems like a lonely shot, but maybe not. Solitude may be just what he needed to concentrate on what he is reading. Well spotted and nicely shot.

Bonjour,
Nice pic..It looks like photos of Cartier-Bresson ( a french photographer..).A moment of life.."Chut!" Silence!:-)

I love repetition in photogrphy– oddly enough it can make an image so humble which is just perfect as it complements the lovely character I am seeing of a guy sitting down in a humble position, reading…
I wonder what sought of book he is reading?

Great work, I will be visiting again. Cheers.

Beautiful perspective, inspiring subject and interesting "pattern": a very good shoot.

Such a beautiful shot Sam. I saw the title first before the picture completes and first thing came to my mind was that guy you pictured 3 times so far.

I like this shot. I wonder why he chose that particular bench to sit on?

Posted by Vickie at October 22, 2006 11:49 AM

oh no, looks like the AF missed!

Posted by jake at October 22, 2006 01:19 PM

Why did you choose to focus on the bench to the left of the man rather than focus on the man?

Posted by Andrew at October 22, 2006 01:28 PM

Great capture. He almost looks like he's sleeping! :-)

Beautiful shot - love the row of benches. I have no idea how you somehow get good lighting on cloudy days! You posted another shot of a lone reader just the other day. Hmmm... maybe it's time you took the afternoon off to read!

As the first to comment on the lone reader, I hope I am not the lone viewer! Very nice perspective.

lovers lane isn't it?

Yet another excellent shot. It's true the focus is slightly just past the guy reading, but I don't feel that makes any difference to the impact of the shot.
