The desaturated color scheme works great on the first one. I like how the hosepipe adds dimension to the image!

Despite the tragic circumstances, the first picture has an element og beauty about it. I really like it.

Old building - old wood - makes great fires. Sad!

But the building hardly looks "heritage" and it's a quick way to get rid of it, if damned dangerous. I wonder how much trouble the city would have given a developer who wanted to tear it down to replace it?

I wonder how soon it will be re-developed and what that all means - if anything?

I sure hope no firefighters were hurt. 'Tis a very dangerous way to earn a dollar.

There good shots for couldn't-get-to-the-real-thing. You can tell something happened - for sure.

Wow, complete devastation. I hadn't even heard that this had happened. In regards to the shots, you capture well the stillness after the storm.

I like both shots but the top one appeals most, great journalistic shot nicely led in by the hose.

It's unfortunate that such a thing happened. Paint burns very well.

That's so sad. Top photo is great, though.

A real loss, nicely photographed. I like how you caught the pathos of the debris and the fire hoses snaking away from the building.

I love the first one! Good prespective on the fire hose.

that first shot with the hose is great.

the 1st photo reminds me of [snakes on the plane]

nice shot (of a not-nice scene), did anyone die?

Posted by Ali at October 22, 2006 01:06 AM

oh my god!

Attractive strong powerful colours in the first image, maybe as powerful as the fire...... Great documentation.
(How disappointing it must of been to see, in person.)

Why is the cab sitting within the police tape in the second photo?

Posted by tom at October 23, 2006 02:20 AM

such a shame that this building was ruined.

Posted by Stephanie at October 24, 2006 03:16 PM

A sad event, for sure - but you captured it very well. Great leading lines in the first foto, and a sense of controlled chaos in the second.
