wow
so nice!
Hey Sam,
Great shot as always! Though, with a 'Where's Wally' twist...took me ages to find the red bottle! :)
Posted by Daragh Mc Grath at October 4, 2006 03:31 AMSix preferred mine photoblogger! :-)
Posted by Fabio at October 4, 2006 07:17 AMLove the angle, composition and colours. Beautiful shot.
Posted by Craig Wilson at October 4, 2006 08:05 AMWhat a neat old building. The lower door is so small. Wonder who put the bottle there?
Posted by Laurie at October 4, 2006 08:12 AMIt took me a while to find the bottle.. :) Nice catch!
Posted by Christian Wiedel at October 4, 2006 08:33 AMWhy have you blacked out those two windows Sam?! What is it you don't want us to see??????? Is it info on the JFK file? Or is it some dirty, dirty nudity?? Nudity from a man, or a dog? Or a man humping a dog?? I don't need your cencorship Sam! Or should I say Hitler! or maybe Ronald McDonald. No, Ronald is too harsh.
I wish there was a way on the internet for me to spit on your feet!
Posted by coop at October 4, 2006 08:42 AMHehe, great shot! If I wouldn't have read the title, I wouldn't have noticed the red bottle :)
Btw: How do you manage all your thousands of photos? I am stuck up in a mess of hundreds of folders with photos scattered all over them. :(
First I'm puzzled how you labled the image "red bottle", since I see no bottles at all. Would have gone well with the green. It's surely a curious place, a bit tired from age. But what is most interesting is the small door on the lower right. I expect the tall door on the left is oversize but the small one definitely looks too small for most people. Weird! Nice catch for architectural oddities.
Posted by Hugh Petrie at October 4, 2006 10:13 AMOne door for normal people, and one for short ones...who like to leave their medicine bottles on the door frame. Nice shot.
Posted by arkady1200 at October 4, 2006 10:14 AMsome great picture to look at
i like the little funny door labeled 6a and so on..
I like this one. I like the contrast between the 90 degree vertical and horizontal lines and the angled lines at the bottom. I'm not sure I like seeing the edge of the building on the left side.
Oh yea, and what in the world is the little door (6A) for?!! Nice shot overall.
Posted by Andy@PhotoChron at October 4, 2006 11:22 AMAnd I thought my apartment had low ceilings!
Posted by Jonathan at October 4, 2006 11:33 AMWhat are those f shaped things?

Posted by paul georges at October 4, 2006 12:48 PMthe doors look funny.. lovely colours
Posted by Susie at October 4, 2006 12:52 PMI think this building is actually a clothing store on the left for tall people and short fat people on the right.
BTW, odd comments but funny from coop.
Posted by ian at October 4, 2006 01:40 PMGreat photo Sam.
Excellent comp/colour, overall just a nicely put together shot. Then comes the red bottle, which I'm sure no one noticed before reading the title. I thought that was ingenius. Just when I thought I really liked the picture I read the title and said what red bottle, and then I see it. it just made me laugh. The layers Sam, thats why you're good.
Posted by Mo Hashim at October 4, 2006 01:56 PMYou have an amazing eye to see an opportunity for pictures like this.
You, and your photographs, are amazing.
Great photo! I actually saw the red bottle before I saw the title of the shot. Loved the little surprise there. My only critique is the overexposure to the foreground pavement - but thats just me.
Posted by cyen at October 4, 2006 06:15 PMgreat perspective! like it :)
Posted by Rui at October 4, 2006 06:51 PMBonjour,
To see Toronto and Quebec through your pictures is very nice!..Thanks from France!
I really want to be there right now.
Posted by Robin at October 4, 2006 07:20 PMSuch a beautiful building. I love old cities so much. As always, wonderful image.
Posted by Ash at October 4, 2006 10:13 PMGlad they don't allow parking on this block... cars would have blocked the building, and this shot wouldn't have the charm it does.
Posted by geckonia at October 5, 2006 02:03 AMVery nice shot Sam. Infact it's amazing.
I was a bit insulted by Coop's comment on this shot. I think he knows what privacy means and sueing people for breaching that.
Obviously, you wanted to show us the outside of this beautiful building and showing inside those windows were breaching those residents privacy which is well protected by your act. This isn't censorship of any kind and shape and it's just a respectful act from a good photographer, which means a lot to other people not letting them being scared of any photographer taking pictures in residential places.
By the way, nobody is forced to look at your blog and if you want to do something to YOUR photos you can do it and nobody can complain. It's yours, you took it, you did it and you are showing it. If somebody is looking for some irregular kind of pictures, they are on a wrong site.
Keep it up Sam.
thanks to arkady1200 for the tip, cause i really couldn't see the bottle :-) and great shot btw!
Posted by Kris [PiXistenZ] at October 5, 2006 07:10 AMHe didn't want the focal point to be the interior, it's the artistic vision. It's similar to blurring advertising by working with the DOF. As for the door, you guys have some interesting theories but behind it there's probably a stairway with a high ceiling. Then away, I struggle to imagine it myself.
Posted by A.R. at October 5, 2006 05:10 PMAnd that's what makes a good photograph:
inciting discussion like this shows that you did your job. :)
Posted by Darren at October 6, 2006 03:57 AMA classic one! Nicely done.
