Comments: paris block

It looks like it is in the 1st arrondissement, Rivoli Street, along the Jardin des Tuileries.

Thanks for your website Sam, it is definitely the best.

HOW DO YOU GET THE SKY TO LOOK LIKE THAT??

Posted by bao at October 13, 2006 03:12 AM

I like the composition in this one.. and it's a nice contrast to the photo you posted yesterday

Posted by Susie at October 13, 2006 03:46 AM

but this is _exactly_ paris. unfortunately i've only been there once and had a terrible food poisoning that day so i sat at notre dame for whole seven hours, but this is what it looked like on the other side of the seine :D

Posted by moritz at October 13, 2006 04:18 AM

corner of rue de rivoli and rue de la paix - just to take a wild guess!

Posted by sirstick at October 13, 2006 04:25 AM

Hi,

Should it be between "la Madeleine" and "place de la Concorde", in "rue royale" ? It seems to be. But it could be elsewhere.

Independently of this geographical notice, I want to say to you I like your pictures, I almost come every day to watch your adds.

Bye

Posted by renaud at October 13, 2006 05:08 AM

I would say on the riverside, follow the road to get to Notre Dam...

Atleast thats what my photos of the same looking buildings tell me!

Posted by Hitesh Sawlani at October 13, 2006 06:06 AM

Sorry, I can't help you, even if I live in Paris.

It's an haussmanian building... you got, like, thousands and thousands of them, in each part of the city...

You could be interested to look at his history : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baron_Haussmann

Very dramatic

Posted by navin harish at October 13, 2006 06:23 AM

wow! the right building seems falling over the other one...
;-)

Posted by marina at October 13, 2006 07:37 AM

Really pretty tones here.

Posted by Laurie at October 13, 2006 08:08 AM

Wow... great shot! Very well balanced lighting and perspective! HDR?

Posted by Wee Keat at October 13, 2006 08:11 AM

Elegant looking places. I wonder if you were aware and intentful in tilting the camera off level and vertical? It doesn't bother me in this image but it has been overdone a lot by magazine editors etc. as a trick to give "motion" to an image. Many times, to me, it just looks cockeyed. I guess I'm a square despite haveing been labelled a hippie in the 60's.

Posted by Hugh Petrie at October 13, 2006 08:20 AM

wow!

Posted by shula at October 13, 2006 08:36 AM

All the buildings look the same in Paris!

Great picture.

Posted by Benoit Shelston at October 13, 2006 08:56 AM

The funny thing is that this photo could've been taken anywhere in Paris! It's all the bloody same.

Posted by Dustin at October 13, 2006 09:01 AM

It looks like the Champs Elysees to me. But perhaps there are other sections of Paris that look like the buildings along there.

Posted by Kathryn at October 13, 2006 09:21 AM

Great picture :D i like the color and the exposure compensation :D

Salu2 Caleidos

Sorry But my english :S

paris the most beautiful town of the world (after le havre france )

Posted by rob at October 13, 2006 09:33 AM

doesn't really matter, 90% of paris looks like this ;)

Posted by dominik at October 13, 2006 09:53 AM

It's in one of the 20 arrondissments :-) Seriously, that's such an architypal shot of Paris, it would be one of a thousand different intersections.

Posted by vladhed at October 13, 2006 09:59 AM

beautiful. very well chosen composition. great one.

Posted by kurt at October 13, 2006 10:00 AM

The detail your camera captures Sam, just makes me so envious. The flowers in the flower boxes, the curley Qs in the wrought iron ... ~sigh~. This is a wonderful shot taken at a very interesting angle.

Posted by Lynn R at October 13, 2006 10:09 AM

hot damn. how do you get those colors so... wonderful?

Posted by aaron the bold at October 13, 2006 10:36 AM

PLEASE POST MORE PICTURES OF PARIS! :O
Love it Sam, keep it up!

Posted by James at October 13, 2006 12:23 PM

Very nice color; the contrast between the hues of the buildings and the sky complement each other nicely.

Posted by John at October 13, 2006 12:23 PM

Great photo. I was in Paris this summer and this takes me right back to that amazing weekend.

Posted by Thomas at October 13, 2006 12:26 PM

Nice pic Sam

Quartier Latin would be my guess.

Posted by Babak at October 13, 2006 12:41 PM

It's hard to say all the buldings in Paris are like that !

Posted by SeBBB at October 13, 2006 02:00 PM

Isn't that near the Opera House, in the 9th district?

Posted by Rob at October 13, 2006 02:50 PM

No idea how you create such beautiful contrast. truly marvelous Sam. Of the last week, this is my favourite by far.

Posted by Mo Hashim at October 13, 2006 04:05 PM

I really really like the angle of the building on the right compared to the one on the left. I looks like multiple photos.

Posted by Andrew at October 13, 2006 05:32 PM

Boulevard Malesherbes en remontant vers la porte Champerret après avoir dépassé la place Saint-Augustin…? Mais en tous cas, aux alentours du XVII° arrondissement… Quelqu'un a une autre idée…?!

beautiful shot. i love Paris

Posted by max at October 14, 2006 08:13 AM

Buildings like these have just written 'Paris' al over them. This nice shot says so much more than just the millionth shot of the Eiffel Tower.

Posted by Maarten at October 14, 2006 03:12 PM

Indeed, it could be many places in Paris :-))

Posted by .:Oscense:. at October 14, 2006 05:03 PM

I love the sky :) very pretty, and nice effect with the angle tilted up at the buildings

Posted by Amy at October 14, 2006 05:27 PM

I like the chalk feel & camera angle of the this photo. Niceee

Posted by Abraham Alexander at October 15, 2006 11:57 AM

I'm lovin' the tones in this shot. That pastel pink feel mixed with the blues is very soft and soothing.

Posted by Richard Houtby at October 16, 2006 09:55 PM

As someone said, this could be in many places as it's a building by Haussmann. No matter, it's a beautiful photo as usual!

Posted by Eric at Paris Daily Photo at October 28, 2006 06:52 PM

So crisp, and so beautiful... as usual !

Sorry mor my poor english :-p
