Maybe pansion, not pension?

Lovely shot, love the detail and the shapes.

i tried the forum but ... yeah. so my question is how's the pensio called and where it is exactly - i will have to go back to rome in the not so far future - a beautiful city - and i can need advices for good pensions. thank you!
and a beautiful photo - your perspective is always so amazing.

This is really ineresting. Is a Pension like a hotel or a rooming house? It looks as though some rooms or suites are long term judging by the plants and the laundry hanging out.

What is also interesting is the amount of pipes that run outside the buildings walls. I'm guessing that was due to the age of the building that they rar pipes along the ooutside instead of through the walls?

I'm sure the place was comfortable, but it always amuses me to see all the attachments to the outside of buildings built before certain things were invented - like plumbing and electric lights and phones. It makes for one huge mess on the outside.

I think this shot is about the first where it's easy to see the wide angle distortion show in the balconies. Interesting to see however.

Like the color. Is the image desaturated a little or was it naturally subdued? It captures the essence of the light in Italy perfectly.

Pension?
I wish I had a 10mm wide angle... this is a beautiful shot!

I like the wide angle, very nice.

This is possibly the worst photo you've posted in a while, I feel no life in this picture, theres no decent colour, its like you've taken this shot to test your new camera, not caring what it looked like.
Nice to see the culture element though :)

This picture is nice. It's something with the perspective.

my eyes hurt. awsome pic.

Sam :)

This is a perfect example of what I love about your photos. I love the content, what your eyes see and what your camera captures. I know very little about angles, perspectives, hues, shadows, etc., doesn't matter to me, but your photos never fail to delight.

If I were to visit Roma, this is precisely a place I'd want to check out, and possibly stay.

Grazie mille :)

it's a pity that this photo cannot come with the sound file attached to it somehow.. I'm sure such a patio is a perfect place to do some eavesdropping on the people living there ;)

Excellent shot, love the angle you have here.

Because the pansion is in Rome, Italy, we can aptly describe it as "quaint". If this photo were taken in Toronto, we would aptly describe the building as a "slum".Why are all the pipes and wires exposed? What about the tattle-tale grey laundry hanging out to dry? Ugggh! Don't they have clothes dryers in Italy? It may be a nice place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there. I bet your'e glad to be back home, eh, Sam?

'pensione'(Pen-see-YO-ne) means 'boarding house.' It has become a term synonymous with a very simple hotel in Italy, usually run by a local person or family that offers only the simplest of amenities......stefano

Some things, like in the building corner, look a little warped. Maybe this is in the processing when the upward lines were straightened.

Wonderful image. So much character.

i'm from rome, and i'd like to say that this looks like other million patios in my city, it is very common to find places like this.
your photo captures exactly what you see from the window exposed on the inside (hope you had some windows on the outside, too!).

and martin, in italy we actually have clothes dryers but it would be a waste of power to use them, since the sun gives us some help in our country.
doing that in canada would mean freezing your clothes.

reminds me of Hitchcock's Rare Window....cool.
