Beautiful shot... one of your best in quite some time, I think. However, I think the sharpening is a tad too strong. It always looks bad when there are wires in a shot.

You make me want to pick up a camera again.

Wonderful composition and photo.

Great lines in this photo. Very unique and fun to look at.

Epic. The first word my mind came to. Foreboding was the next one.

I love your site- it is my homepage as well the homepage of my two friends. You make the day I see after I see your photographs appear slightly different. And isn't that incredible?

up to the air~

Sweet angles, and the sky just "pops!"

Posted by Nate at August 30, 2006 02:33 AM

if day before's snap was mesmerising this is just awe-strucking...

ٍExcellent shot with great angle view.

Posted by Pooriya at August 30, 2006 02:54 AM

wow.. fantastic! symmetry plus dizzying perspective..
if humans came with eyes on top of their heads this is what we would get to notice much more often :)

Posted by Susie at August 30, 2006 03:34 AM

if it were not for the phone poles it would look unreal. nice work

Posted by Miller at August 30, 2006 03:46 AM

I envy your abilty to come up with such brilliant shots of seemingly ordinary things.

Posted by navin harish at August 30, 2006 04:17 AM

From the vantage of god's. Exquisite cathedral ceiling.

Inspires me it does, smiling and breathing in love,

Posted by maria at August 30, 2006 04:26 AM

wow - you chose the perfect perspective! very interesting composition and a great dramatic sky.

Posted by kurt at August 30, 2006 05:45 AM

Mesmerizing. This one is art.

Posted by Graham at August 30, 2006 06:07 AM

Love the framing

Posted by Sean Galbraith at August 30, 2006 06:31 AM

Really nice composition - any chance of a larger version for wallpaper?
Keep up the good work

Posted by Jamie at August 30, 2006 06:40 AM

Amazing perspective, bravo !

Posted by Hitesh Sawlan at August 30, 2006 07:07 AM

The symmetry of the corner of the building and the hydro wires is almost perfect and makes a very satisfying impression. The cloud pattern reminds me of the images of the earth as seen from an earth-orbiting satellite. An altogether unique and brilliant photo. Congratulations.

Posted by martin at August 30, 2006 08:25 AM

Interesting perspective. The monochrome on this one really creates a moody image. Great job!

Posted by Alice at August 30, 2006 08:38 AM

Ah yes! The wired and wonderful world. Not dependable. Wires break easily, especially with help from saboteurs. Nice building - they also fall down quickly with bombs.

I'm in a lousy mood obviously.

Posted by Hugh Petrie at August 30, 2006 08:59 AM

I think the picture would have looked better had the pole and the other building not been in it.

Posted by Madhu at August 30, 2006 09:00 AM

This photo looks like the clouds are moving!!! It's awesome!!! I think it would make an excellent windows Desktop...

Posted by Tim O at August 30, 2006 09:24 AM

Very cool shot. Good decision for turning it into black and white.

Posted by Photoblog Community at August 30, 2006 09:40 AM

A very beautiful shot :)

Beautiful.

Posted by Eric F at August 30, 2006 09:58 AM

very cool pic, i might stop by there on the way home from work and take a look at things from that perspective...

Posted by nathan at August 30, 2006 10:02 AM

My first thought seeing this was 'how did he get on a space shuttle?' The building looked like one of those big tubes they carry around, and I thought I was looking down on the sky, instead of up at it. :)

Posted by mr_sparkle at August 30, 2006 10:15 AM

for me the subject of this photo is the chine of the palace. Beautifulst.

Posted by Fabio at August 30, 2006 10:34 AM

Weird, at the first look I though it was a space station shot looking down on earth.

Posted by Spike at August 30, 2006 10:41 AM

Lovely shot. There is so much drama going on up there in the sky that my eye is drawn to stay up there, but then I come back down to the buildings, the poles and the wires... Great composition and tone. I like the wires, by the way. I think they add a nice sense of line and enhance the triangle shape of the corner of the building.

Posted by Nicole at August 30, 2006 10:57 AM

majestic...

Posted by selam at August 30, 2006 11:38 AM

Great composition. Would like to see it in color also.

this is Great...bravo

*gasp* as always, superb. How do you just "find" these shots!? Thanks, as always, for the amazing shot!

very very good pic
beautiful

Sam... that's my boy. Definitely one of your best in a long while. Want to see more of your European shots though. Forget Toronto for a bit and venture out.

Bring on some fantastic Italia shots!!!

Posted by Adam at August 30, 2006 02:04 PM

Wow, that's some amazing perspective.

Posted by Matt Simpson at August 30, 2006 03:27 PM

wow. everything is so geometric i love it.

Posted by josie at August 30, 2006 04:01 PM

wow! i love it!!
Wallpaper wallpaper? :D

Posted by ecila at August 30, 2006 04:31 PM

The composition is moving, but that black and white is really annoying. More grain, better contrast! I get the fealing this is not film.

Posted by A.R. at August 30, 2006 06:05 PM

Nice shot. How's your neck?!!

Posted by Andy@PhotoChron at August 30, 2006 08:16 PM

wow!

Posted by tee at August 30, 2006 09:34 PM

Wires are always a distraction, but your decision to make this a B&W made them part of the art. This looks like a shot taken from the International Space Station. It's one of your best. And you are. The best.

Posted by Jim at August 31, 2006 12:37 AM

really cool picture...
I love the colour version, there's so much contrast in it...
thanks
Nicolas

Posted by nicolas at August 31, 2006 03:39 AM

I prefer the black and white version. I just love the tones and the unique perspective. Well done.

Posted by SmileTO at August 31, 2006 05:18 AM

The Grayscale one is much more impressive!

Posted by Ali at August 31, 2006 05:56 AM

This is such a unique photo. The perspective is fantastic it gives such an interesting dimension.

What I find interesting; to my eyes the wires belong when I look at the black and white, but yet when I look at the color version, I find the wires more distracting and less appealing...Strange huh?

Once again you have proved that you have talents and vision above that of mere mortals like me.

Posted by Laurie at August 31, 2006 09:00 AM

The B&W is far superior than the coloured version. Love the photo!

Posted by .d at August 31, 2006 10:26 AM

i think the color is better. it adds something to it.

Posted by MJ at August 31, 2006 11:36 AM

Love the B&W much more than the coloured version... It makes the image more surrealistic

Posted by Puck at September 1, 2006 05:30 AM

This photo just appeared in the Toronto Star newspaper (3 Sep, page D11) with the caption "There's lot's to be grateful for - you just have to know where to look." The article is how an atheist's existential angst can be tempered with gratefulness and an appreciation of beauty, etc. (I think ?)

I knew there was a reason I keep coming back to this site. Thanks Father Sam.

Posted by Bruce at September 3, 2006 12:01 PM

Sam, do you know that this photo was posed at Ideas section of Sunday (Toronto) Star yesterday? The title of the article is "Thank Who!"

Posted by hadi at September 4, 2006 08:31 AM

I enjoy the colour version more. It looks like the sky is the planet Earth and we're looking down on it from above.

Posted by Shannon at September 12, 2006 02:37 PM

very nice photo, like alwaus, but i think that color version is better in this case
