Must be a really slow day, Sam. Not too exciting.

But it raises a question. Since you are a bike rider I wonder if they let you take a bike on the trains. Seems a useful idea as going all across town by train is way quicker easier than the full bike ride. Not likely I suppose, as getting it through a turnstile would be tricky. Ah well! 'Twas a thought. In Ottawa long run buses have racks for bikes - not that drivers like them being used.

You have too many of these subway/street car shots...I was hoping I'd see something more original in term of subject matter. But it's still a nice shot. :)

Sam has consclusively proved his genius by making the Toronto subway look so shiny and glamourous!

The seats are covered in a velvety material, but there is no padding underneath the fabric.

You can take your bike on outside of rush hour. Some bus routes feature buses with racks on the front. These are actually mostly downtown.

Great shot. How in the WORLD did you get a shot this steady at 1/10 sec?

There's padding under some of the seats; I think the lack of it reflects poor maintenance and funding.

Every subway station has gates for cyclists, people in wheelchairs, parents with strollers, and shoppers with lots of bags, etc, to get through.

Besides the technical aspects, I vote for the social mood of this urban picture. A condensed fragment of our daily monotonous routine. We suddenly find ourselves staring at two empty chairs lost in our thoughts while the rest of the world comes and go.

I actually kind of like this shot. I like the way his arm hangs over the seat.

Again Sam, just a plain boring shot. Very pedestrian. Some of your works are mind blowing. Some of them are very boring. This falls into the 'boring' camp.

Super capture of the fashionista in the gold sneakers and pink spandex leggings entering. You know, after reading the comments above, I can't believe some people have the hubris or adolescent attitude to call something you do boring or pedestrian. Obiviously they are'nt taking time with the photo itself, or maybe they are just seeking a quick new thrill from one of the best photographers on the planet, certainly THE top dog in the photo blogosphere. Sometimes my family complains if I serve chicken too often, even when I use a new recipi. Not to worry, cuz there are plenty of others who want to see everything you do.

Just love it! The glint of the metal against the opulence of the burgundy, the bright kinetic engergy of the young lady, the massive hand, the evidence of negligence due to the newspapers, the enciting poster. Very different from the NYC subway.

I was back in Toronto in mid August (lived there most of my life, now don't). I got on the subway at Finch Station and noticed that someone had "expressed themselves" with a marker by changing the "In Case of Emergemcy Press for Assistance" strip to say "In Case of Emergency Press for A Sista"

Thinking this was funny, I pulled out my camera, and focused. The 'conductor' door flew open and an irate young dude flung himself at me screaming that photographs are forbidden on the TTC. I showed him what I was trying to take a picture of. He continued to freak out. I took it anyway. WTF. Are civil liberties eroding in Toronto?
