great concept
and great message.
one planet, one chance!
Creative recycling for sure. Nice capture Sam.
Posted by Carl B. Constantine at August 17, 2006 02:04 AMMy brother tried this once. He parked his old VW bug on the street, and laid a pumpkin vine across the bumper (the vine was growing from a nearby vine). After a week or so, the vine began to take over the bug. One of the neighbors called the cops to report a violation of the "no abandoned cars" ordinance. Cops came and wrote up a citation.
Posted by delisfar at August 17, 2006 03:25 AMgood picture... although I've seen this car quite a few times (i live near it), i've never looked at the front. You should show the profile too.
Posted by selam at August 17, 2006 03:34 AMthat's what i call the green car effect!
Posted by arash at August 17, 2006 03:37 AMSam, sam....
Your photos are great... really, subject composition etc...
But recently your photos are overly saturated! Bring back the well balanced Sam of before who would correct to the level to represent the original colours as much as possible!
Posted by Hitesh Sawlan at August 17, 2006 05:01 AMVery cool car ;)
Posted by JD at August 17, 2006 06:43 AMPerfect angle to capture this strange political art piece.
Posted by Sean Galbraith at August 17, 2006 07:02 AMNow this really is a unique shot. First I really couldn't figure out what the hell it was. Nice job! :-)
Posted by Thomas Solberg / Project neXus at August 17, 2006 07:05 AMha ha ha ha ha. What a funny car.
Posted by faustina at August 17, 2006 07:13 AMWOW!!! My initial reaction was HUH??? What the...
Very interesting, I don't quite understand the statement it is supposed to make, but it is definitely a very fascinating find...Is there a backstory on this?
Posted by Laurie at August 17, 2006 08:41 AMPeople in Toronto have such personality! Love this photo!
Posted by Tara at August 17, 2006 09:06 AMThis reminds me of the car of an artist in the Yorkville area in 1968. He had the whole surface covered in bent metal. A real hazard to lean on. Now this is way more appealing, but a tad crazy too.
Great find, Sam. But is the car functional?
Posted by Hugh Petrie at August 17, 2006 09:21 AMThis looks like a mobile grow-op lol.
Posted by Dave at August 17, 2006 10:23 AMExcellent shot, great find and love the colours.
Posted by Craig Wilson at August 17, 2006 11:42 AMThis is just funny!
Posted by Nate at August 17, 2006 12:18 PMthis car is anything but abandoned! there is a guy who works on it quite regularly (doing the painting and probably some gardening, though i've only seen him paint). it's a protest against giving land over to more parking spots. i think it says "more parks, less parking" somewhere on it.
Posted by Joan at August 17, 2006 12:34 PMa little garden in a car.. hmmm, that's certainly a strong statement. And the photo is fun! :)
Posted by Susie at August 17, 2006 01:20 PMCool car-great idea nicely taken:)
Posted by Lukas at August 17, 2006 01:47 PMI don't think it's over-saturated. When I think of Kensington Market a very colourful saturated picture comes to mind.
Great picture,.
Posted by Mark at August 17, 2006 04:05 PMThe Car is anything but functional, it is full of soil. It's nice to see the city hasn't towed it away. Great shot!
Posted by Todd Lockhart at August 17, 2006 05:45 PMIt should be a very bad idea to go into a carwash with this greenpowered vehicle.
Posted by javga at August 17, 2006 06:00 PMI haven't been to Kensington Market in about 4 years. Ah... the things people do with junk. Interesting photo to say the least!
Posted by Kristen Stanley at August 17, 2006 06:52 PMOf all the times I've been in the Kensington Market area (and I know it's not that big!) I've never noticed this car! Can someone tell me where it is?
Fun photo ... great message!
Posted by Fiona at August 17, 2006 09:33 PMThat's hillarious.
Posted by mari at August 17, 2006 11:39 PMNow you're across the street from Adrift! Amazing!
I hope you stopped by our little shop for a look around, there's a good chance that our front desk computer was lurking on your website (set as our store's homepage!)
Cheers and lovely photo. That car gets photographed 100 times per day, but I'm confident that your approach is original.
Posted by Aidan at August 17, 2006 11:47 PMo, i saw this car near china town
