Wow your appartment really has a lot of views to take photos from/

Posted by Andrew at August 10, 2006 01:41 AM

This is a great one. Did you take it from a balcony or did you just open a window? Nice colors!

Geat lighting. Makes the city look at peace.

Posted by Jon at August 10, 2006 02:16 AM

you're so lucky to have such an amazing view of the city. i love all of your rooftop shots.

Posted by London at August 10, 2006 05:06 AM

Very cool urban sunset. And this is a perfect example of how the rule of thirds can be broken and still have a really effective image.

Posted by ROB at August 10, 2006 06:09 AM

gorgeous

Posted by mel at August 10, 2006 06:29 AM

Fantastic Sam. Wonderful low light image and the sky and clouds are perfectly exposed.

Posted by Richard at August 10, 2006 07:11 AM

That's another one that would make an incredible desktop. Wow. with a morning like that, how can you be grumpy?

Posted by J. W. Coffey at August 10, 2006 08:30 AM

Wallpaper please! Love the picture!

Posted by Stephanie at August 10, 2006 09:05 AM

would like to have it as a wallpaper!

Posted by Felix at August 10, 2006 09:21 AM

Reminds me of Miami Vice !

Posted by Hitesh Sawlan at August 10, 2006 09:37 AM

It feels good to be reminded that, in spite of the "news", there are still some corners with quiet beauty. That sun is setting for a night undisturbed by either explosions or paranoia.
Thanks, Sam, for reminding us.
Incidentally, I'm amazed once again by your ability to handle a lighting situation that would appear to need a number of different exposures simultaneously. I understand HDR processing can help; but I expect, like with most imaging tools, much depends upon the perception and skill of the one behind the camera. A great image! Thanks.

Posted by Ron at August 10, 2006 09:47 AM

nice light. part of the building on the right edge of the photo is a bit distracting, but overall nice warm tones.

Posted by Photoblog Community at August 10, 2006 09:56 AM

Dude, we totally need a wallpaper of this!

I love having your Toronto cityscapes on my desktop. This one is beautiful.

Posted by Chris at August 10, 2006 10:31 AM

You owe me a new keyboard--mine's all shorted out with drool.

Posted by Nate at August 10, 2006 10:37 AM

How do you get the colors in the sky and clouds so vibrant? Are they naturally like that or do you Photoshop that to make them stand out more? If so, what techniques do you use?

Posted by Scott at August 10, 2006 10:37 AM

I would like details on how you got the light balance if you get the time. This is very hard for me to get with sun like that. You always do so wonderful.

Posted by Nate at August 10, 2006 10:55 AM

Love the shot, the cloud coverage and the way the sun catches the buildings are cool.

Posted by Craig Wilson at August 10, 2006 10:59 AM

Totally beautiful.

Posted by Susanna at August 10, 2006 11:05 AM

wow, it's so dramatic.

Posted by lisa at August 10, 2006 11:34 AM

i've always wanted to watch the sunrise in a high rise building. I feel like i'm in a movie, the detail is awesome! .Thanks for capturing this moment, its breathtaking.

Posted by Charlotte at August 10, 2006 11:36 AM

Great Pic! Always amazed with your work! Question, when are forums going back up? Thanks!

Posted by Mauricio Tellez at August 10, 2006 12:09 PM

aren't sunsets a we bit cliche in terms of photoblogs... its is a good shot but by no means one of your best.

Posted by cliche at August 10, 2006 12:26 PM

Is this the view from your apartment? If so, you're one lucky dude! Amazing pciture.

Posted by jesse at August 10, 2006 01:08 PM

I've been following your pictures for some time, now and have used several of your images as wallpapers. I think to is wallpaper worthy.

Amazing picture.

Posted by Jeremy at August 10, 2006 01:52 PM

very nice picture, i like the dramatic sky and all the details in the city.

Posted by Johan at August 10, 2006 02:03 PM

top half has colours that are great...the sun actually made me squint before i realized that it was a photo. the bottom half is lacking any punch and doesn't look any different than something I would take. Why did you crop out the stack to the right? It would have framed the view nicely.

Posted by CrankPhoto at August 10, 2006 02:19 PM

it doesn,t matter where we r in the earth, sunset is always glorious to remember and see.
very nice.

If this was a Reuters News Agency photo of Beirut,Lebanon, the caption would read: "Israeli bomb explodes in residential district of Beirut."

Posted by geckonia at August 11, 2006 12:45 AM

Nice view You've got. Maybe You will try HDR to lighten buildings - picture will be even better.

Posted by Lukas at August 11, 2006 08:17 AM
