Comments: towers and crane

huh?

This photo is horrible.

There is so much noise in the bottom half. and the cars are not even in their proper proportions.

if this is an art statement, sorry for being ignorant.

I usually like your work, but this one sucks.

Very hip, distortion really brings out the edges of the buildings

Looks almost like an ad for the building. Very nice image.

Great, excellent view.

Posted by Frank at July 17, 2006 02:50 AM

A gorgeous cityscape! The two towers in the foreground are nicely framed by the streets and the other buildings. The tall tower with the crane in the background goes well with the two in the foreground, and also makes us look at the cool sky.

I'm not sure if it's worth correcting the image at the cost of so much distortion.. look at those cars at the bottom, as well as the truck. what do you think?

Posted by m at July 17, 2006 06:39 AM

Great structures and I love the skys! Wonderful cityscape.

Posted by Craig at July 17, 2006 07:17 AM

This is gorgeous!

great perfect angle to shoot this.

I really like these citylandscapes of yours. The detail is very rich and the sky is really cool.

NIce Lens, Better Photo. :)

Posted by Cave Canem at July 17, 2006 08:53 AM

Sam, I really don't like the perspective :/. Lots of your recent photos look so unnatural (ie this truck in the bottom-left). Leave this wide angle and perspective correction alone and give us some good old photography. Cheers.

Posted by str at July 17, 2006 09:34 AM

nice buildings, although the lens really killed the cars

Posted by Andrew at July 17, 2006 09:58 AM

Just curious, is this taken from the Delta Chelsea?

Posted by Mike at July 17, 2006 10:10 AM

What's wrong with the GroceryGateway.com truck? It has a funny shape :)

Posted by Oscar at July 17, 2006 10:30 AM

outstanding cool colouring. the hint of warmth in the sky is an excellent effect. nicely done.

Posted by photoDude at July 17, 2006 11:34 AM

Great perspective from the top. The sky is excellent.

Posted by Ayash at July 17, 2006 12:19 PM

an amazing perspective standing so high and taking the pic!

Posted by aashish at July 17, 2006 12:22 PM

This is a beautiful picture. You've inspired me to get back into photography. Great work. :)

Posted by Jayden at July 17, 2006 12:42 PM

I love the crazy lens distortion on the vehicles at the bottom of the screen. :-)

The skies in Toronto are amazing. Why don't we get those in LA?! :)

those cars at the bottom look funny... great shot!

Posted by Susie at July 17, 2006 02:25 PM

Beautiful. I think Toronto is "visitworth".

Posted by mock at July 17, 2006 02:45 PM

Nice! It's shots like this that made DDOI my favorite photoblog on the net. Interesting hues and a moody sky are almost trademarks of you. Keep up the good work.

Posted by Graham at July 17, 2006 02:53 PM

This picture would be better if:

1 You could see it all.

2 The Distortion correction wasn't so obvious.

3 If that right building didnt curve to the right at the top. Din you not notice that with the guide you drew?

On the other hand there really isn't any easy way around these so good job and nice photo.

I wonder of a composite would've worked better?

Posted by darren at July 17, 2006 05:12 PM

This is one of my favorite of yours in a long time. Its just STUNNING!

Posted by Jesse at July 17, 2006 05:35 PM

uff, great!
what a gorgeous perspective

Posted by Rui at July 17, 2006 07:44 PM

Great shot man, you really nailed this one. The sky is fantastic.

Posted by Darkness at July 17, 2006 09:06 PM

The obvious image adjustment ruin it for me (see vehicles at bottom and left). May have forced this one a bit, Sam.

Posted by Crank at July 17, 2006 09:27 PM

wow!!

Posted by shula at July 17, 2006 09:40 PM

it's a really neat picture
the bottom half of the photo is grainy, and the top half is perfectly clear

Keep up the good work !

Posted by beth at July 17, 2006 10:05 PM

what happened to that truck on the bottom left?

Posted by JDiggity at July 17, 2006 10:42 PM

Your architectural shots are superb!

Posted by sari at July 18, 2006 04:33 AM

Look the cars!It's become deformed.

Posted by Harlequinpan at July 18, 2006 01:24 PM

Beautiful Pic. Nice Buildings we have in our city....Thks

Posted by javier at July 18, 2006 01:53 PM

Was this photo perspective corrected? The cars on the street look quite distorted.

Posted by Valrik at July 18, 2006 04:49 PM

I have to say that I really admire your ability to maintain perfect vertical lines in nearly all of your shots. As an architect, and a photographer, I must compliment your skills. I've used Perspective Control lenses to get this effect, but it appeaars that you use a super wide angle without any lens shift.

Are your shots post-processed to correct any non-vertical lines in an image editing program, or do you simply capture all of your shots with a perfectly level camera? Either case, the images are all spectacular from the eye of this critic!

Posted by Zootpix at July 18, 2006 08:50 PM

As usual, a striking image, although on closer inspection, the distortion of the cars on the street below is a little distracting. I'd be curious to see the un-corrected version...

Posted by flysi at July 19, 2006 12:34 PM

This is a great capture. I assume you've taken in through a window. The view indicates a wide angle lens. Did you have to do a lot of post processing to get all the lines aligned to vertical and horizontal perspective?

Posted by Digital Photo Ted at July 19, 2006 07:36 PM

great symmetry in this pic. i can't get over how high that building is going to be.

Posted by maria at July 21, 2006 04:19 PM

you have a very fortunate perspective :o) before we were married my husband lived in the building in the right.

Posted by kim at July 22, 2006 08:30 AM

would have been a lot better if it was cropped from the street up. the distortion is gross on the bottom half
