at first glance, i thought that was the black power ranger.
Posted by ik at July 16, 2006 01:45 AMWow looks like a picture from the Depression Era. The almost monochromatic tones and lack of pedestrians add to the desolate feeling. Cropping away the bottom and keeping the top as a landscape-oriented picture would work just as fine, i think.
Posted by PlasticTV at July 16, 2006 04:18 AMI love the level of detail contained in this shot. Also, your angle of view works perfectly and gives a very three dimensional impression of the original place.
Posted by manuel at July 16, 2006 05:20 AMVery classy, love the tone
Posted by Hitesh Sawlani (hitkaiser) at July 16, 2006 07:18 AMnice desaturation and composition.
Posted by Ali at July 16, 2006 10:15 AMGreat capture!
Posted by Dave Mac at July 16, 2006 10:53 AMi love the framing on this one, with the two buildings and their windows on each side-- nice verticals.
Posted by kcc at July 16, 2006 11:16 AMLooks way oversharpened to me. The desaturated hues are nice.
Posted by Pete at July 16, 2006 12:43 PMLovely street shot, lots to keep your attention!
Posted by Craig at July 16, 2006 02:02 PMcool bnw shot.....
Posted by reza khlili at July 16, 2006 02:48 PMThe one on the left looks like a ninja.
Posted by Fen at July 16, 2006 04:28 PMThe top of this picture looks like an old photograp from, lets say, the 30's. Also the constructors are looking oldfashion somehow... Scrolling down, more and more modern details show up. So it's a very good choise to remove the colors. This one is top of the bill(ding)!
Posted by javga at July 16, 2006 04:40 PMThanks for the shot. I am a native New Yorker and I enjoy seeing parts of it. I like the capture you achieved. Almost like two pictures in one.
Posted by J. Rivera at July 16, 2006 09:08 PMI love NY! I wanted to go in this weekend, to go to B&H Photo, but it didn't happen, and I am only a stones throw away, just through the Tunnels.
Posted by Laurie at July 16, 2006 10:11 PMgreat feel...but it's too bad you didn't see the movie ad in the bottom left and eliminated it from the shot. it cheapens the scene.
Posted by Crank at July 16, 2006 10:42 PMSpectacular shot. Love the way that the guys are posed at the top of that building. Nice work with the subtle colours left in this de-sat.
Posted by Andrew at July 16, 2006 11:29 PMNice shot. I think there is also a potential "picture in the picture" here with the leftmost window in the middle row of windows that is half covered by shutters (of two paint types) as well as plyboard/chipboard. My guess is that it might have been too hard to get the right angle, height for shooting position and zoom strength though. Isn't that always the case? ;)
Posted by Doug F. at July 16, 2006 11:41 PMman, it's too bad there has to be an ad for little man in this picture.
it is terrible.
however, i do like how the top half of this picture looks like it's from the twenties, but by the time you get to the bottom, it's present day.
Posted by william at July 17, 2006 04:53 AMFantastic photo but the ad for "Little Man" down in the corner takes a bit away from it :(
Posted by Carlos at July 17, 2006 06:44 AMthis is not a b/w photo - I can see the color in it - very nice desaturation.
Posted by thomas at July 17, 2006 09:24 AMOkay, indulge my little obsession - what is the piece of street furniture to the bottom right? It looks a little like a megabin, but isn't.
looks so precarious with those guys on the roof!
Posted by Crash at July 17, 2006 04:29 PMI love how the top half of this shot looked like something out of 1920s-40s NYC, and as I scrolled down (on this crappy 15" at work) all of a sudden "Little Man" just threw my mind for a loop.
Posted by sean at July 17, 2006 07:00 PMi love ur pics . very natural~~

Posted by Pop9 at July 18, 2006 02:15 PMLove the composition and sepia treatment.
Posted by Mercury at July 18, 2006 05:16 PMWow i hope that those people dont fall on top of the building. well, they probably won't because they have a lot of expirience...like Santa or something, you know. PS I want to see Little Man the movie...ha ha it is on the bus stop. HAAA HAAA HAAAA. Funny. I have a friend names Madison. Other than those few flaws I really like the photo. Byess

Posted by Bubba at July 18, 2006 06:05 PMThis is an awesome picture. I can't explain why, but I just love it.
The very low saturation suits the picture very well.
