Comments: clouds from rooftop

Great light, and I really like the inclusion of the green shuffle board court. It complements the orange nicely. The wide angle lens distortion has a weird effect on the lamp posts. They look paper thin.

Wow, what an awesome exposure. Great job, I love the colour and simplicity. You'd never think this would be looming over our heads downtown for all these years. I need to shoot photos from tall buildings too.

That sky looks awesome! Too bad I also know what it dropped on us today = (

Posted by Jonathan at June 30, 2006 12:39 AM

Nice colors. I admire how you can change a pretty normal-looking scene into a striking, er, "landscape." I also like how the shuffleboard (?) lines lead your eye to the blazing sunset...

What focal lenght was this taken at (35mm equiv.)?

Posted by Hans at June 30, 2006 01:01 AM

WOW

I like how the lights contrast with the sky, and how the sunscene is reflected by the windows.

excellent.

Posted by Imran at June 30, 2006 01:11 AM

gorgeous!

Posted by Serena at June 30, 2006 01:11 AM

Very magnificent sunset! Love how the orange was reflected in the glass doors and became even more saturated.

Posted by PlasticTV at June 30, 2006 01:32 AM

aw man, i want to play that game...
i really like the coulours and the sky is amazing
you should have seen it here in chicago like two days ago

Posted by hugh at June 30, 2006 01:37 AM

I think you so like "clouds"
yes?

Posted by tekkhg at June 30, 2006 03:28 AM

Great! As all your shots. I'm quite addicted to your blog ;)

Posted by sari at June 30, 2006 03:35 AM

That makes me want to shoot on a rooftop! Great shot and angle ...

Posted by Ali Afghah at June 30, 2006 04:04 AM

Wow, can notice that you're a lot closer to the clouds ;)

Really nice picture.

Posted by vg at June 30, 2006 04:12 AM

Very nice composition, view and lovely colors.

Posted by Pooriya at June 30, 2006 04:52 AM

Slightly strange how the reflection in the windows seems more intense than is visible in the sky. No idea what that runway is for, I cannot even imagine the game.

Posted by ROB at June 30, 2006 06:10 AM

Very nice clouds. I like how they span cool to warm - gives a foreboding sense.

Posted by Chris Ferenzi at June 30, 2006 06:41 AM

Nice reflection in the window of the sky.

Posted by Steve W at June 30, 2006 07:06 AM

Great sky. love the colors

Shuffleboard is awesome. And this picture is quite lovely, as well.

I like this one, whats the green mat for?

Posted by James at June 30, 2006 08:22 AM

WOW, I've been to that shuffle board countless times and I've never seen anything as wonderful as this picture.

Posted by Oliver at June 30, 2006 09:05 AM

Nice contrasting colors: dark blue sky and orange sunset.

Posted by Ed at June 30, 2006 09:16 AM

the skewed lamps kind of wreck it for me... i think i'd like it better without straightening.

Posted by bord at June 30, 2006 09:31 AM

Now that looks like a walkway not a rooftop. Really great image.

Posted by Laurie at June 30, 2006 09:34 AM

Very nice. Colors are amazing.

Posted by Agent Provocateur at June 30, 2006 09:57 AM

Great contrast in this image, love the saturated clouds and how you have retained detail in the foreground. Very nice!

Posted by Ayash at June 30, 2006 10:42 AM

Looks like it might contain a lot of seniors who play shuffleboard. Not the most elegant luxury roof but practical. I suppose there's a laundry behind the glass. What I do notice is there's no people there. The blue color of the sky is quite unreal. Can't say I've ever seen such a shade in 74 years.

Posted by Hugh Petrie at June 30, 2006 10:50 AM

Very nice. Love the reflections in the windows. btw where is this building located?

Posted by A thinker at June 30, 2006 10:56 AM

Is the disortion here via lens or Photoshop transformation?

Posted by Jerrold (photosapience) at June 30, 2006 11:42 AM

Amazing.

Posted by JOJOFACE at June 30, 2006 11:51 AM

Amazing sky! Is that shuffleboard??

Posted by Neil at June 30, 2006 12:06 PM

I remember this building, isn't it across from the World's Biggest Book Store? I believe it is... Edward St.? It has a jacuzzi on the left side too, behind that structure right? Very nice photo

Posted by Daniel at June 30, 2006 12:07 PM

Playing shuffleboard into eternity........

Posted by Kathy at June 30, 2006 12:27 PM

Wonderful shot. The colours are amazing. I love the 10-22. How much was that lens when you bought it? I was also wondering how you get to all these hard to reach places, like rooftops and such. It seems like quite the feat.

Posted by Al-Capwn at June 30, 2006 12:34 PM

Your rooftop is acccessable?

damn, i wish mine was. they need more roof top gardens, and open rooftops here in toronto, it would make thigns so much more fun.

Posted by zack at June 30, 2006 12:40 PM

I can imagine that it probably gets very windy up there :) .. but otherwise a nice place, especially with such dramatic sky overhead

Posted by Susie at June 30, 2006 02:09 PM

Love the colors, great shot

Posted by Andrew Goloida at June 30, 2006 03:35 PM

Have been visiting for more than a year now but first time commenting. This picture almost makes you wanna run on the green surface into the beautiful sky :) Great pic.

Posted by Patrix at June 30, 2006 03:59 PM

Isn't it ironic that so many of your viewers comment on how beautiful the sky, the clouds and the sunset appear in this photograph and how talented you are in creating this image without ever giving a moment's thought or praise or thanks to The Creator- God Almighty- who is responsible for creating this scene in the first place? Let's stop for a minute and give credit where credit is really due. P.S. this is not to minimize the beautiful work you do but just to keep things in proper perspective.

Posted by martin at June 30, 2006 04:19 PM

GREAT!

Posted by Bodiul Eugen at June 30, 2006 08:03 PM

could we see the original, un-photoshoped photo? It would be very helpful to see the type of edits that were conducted. Thanks!

Not sure how you get such clear hand helds...I shake like I have an ongoing paternity suit with the Ali family.

My hometown has new lamp standards on Main St. similar to these; I hope to get there for a shoot next week. Hopefully, I can muster something near this quality. Well done...!

Posted by Marvin Beatty at July 2, 2006 10:05 PM
