Hip, the lighting is strange, I wonder at what time of day it was taken.

Love the yellow tones cast on the subject. The reflection also helps make this one a great shot.

I'm always impressed with the vibrance of the colors in your shots. I'd be interested to learn a bit about your workflow.

love it. classic.

Surely makes a colorful abstsraction. I note the peeling paint and crud which puts it on a par with some of the conditions I comment upon in your friend Kamyar's images of Iran and Oxford too.

Crud seems to begin to overtake human constructions as soon as they're finished. Hard to keep a tidy world.

Surely makes a colorful abstraction. I note the peeling paint and crud, something I've commented upon in your fried, Kamyar's photos of Iran especially but Oxford too.

Rot seems to begin as soon as a construction is finished and it's hard to keep it all tidy.

what a nice contrast, and warm colors.

Not sure about this one. I find myself more interested in what inside the building, and that makes the window reflection a touch distracting.

The window art on the top-left keeps catching my eye - maybe a slight crop would help.

I do agree that as always - your colours are amazing!

Very dramatic looking!the colors are amazing.

How do you get such vibrant colours? Aww man I love this photo just for the colours. Please show us the workflow.

But terrific job, awww I love it.

Posted by Oliver at June 14, 2006 02:26 PM

I'm not a fan of this one. The colors are too cyan, composition is too busy.

GREAT shot. Love it, colours, composition, wonderful reflections, everything. A fave.

I don't think there's another restaurant in Toronto that gets more free publicity than this "flee-bag greasy spoon." I guess the name, location and seediness give it "character and appeal." Has anyone eaten there? What does the food taste like?

Posted by martin at June 14, 2006 06:59 PM

Wonderful colors.

This looks like it was shot either very early in the morning, or very late in the afternoon, early evening.

Do you sometimes stare at your photos after you've finished them in complete and utter wonder? I do. This one is so lovely it makes me ache - and as always, I'm so glad you share.

The reflection in the sky is amazing. The colours are awesome.

Posted by navin harish at June 16, 2006 02:07 AM

The tones in the reflections and the color of the painted sign are what stand out to me here. Very nice!

Posted by Abe at June 22, 2006 01:26 PM

i love the anonymity of the location--even the sticker on the planter is unrecognizable, and yet the restaurant seems distinctive and unique...distinctively anonymous...however much of a paradox that is. the vibrant colors of the immediate scene and clarity of the reflection make the work nearly tangible. i love the contrast of the texture of the glass against the peeling window pane...

I have always loved this restaurant and have wanted to take pictures of it. Thanks for capturing it.
