Great shot, I like the movement.

I always wanted a Kharman Ghia, especially one as shiny as that. Am sure I would have looked as cool as this driver with the arm on the sill. Great panning shot!

personally, if you were to make a wallpaper of any recent shots, this would be my pick ;)

i'm really enjoying the pan shots of the city when they pop up now and then. being an old car nut makes this photo one of my favorites, and reason to comment for the first time!

How nice, this car brings a lot of memories of my own childhood back! Very good shot!

I love the light of this picture and the guy attitude that fits perfectly well with the move. Very nice picture...I like this style.

OH! this is great shot. amazing

Posted by Ameen at June 9, 2006 06:32 AM

Nice Carman Gia! Love the color of the car, but it could be sharper..
Not a easything panning ;)

Posted by Michael at June 9, 2006 07:03 AM

rectification: it should be a VW Karmann Ghia. Thanks!

Posted by Michael at June 9, 2006 07:07 AM

Nice panning with veautiful red color and nice motion.

Posted by Pooriya at June 9, 2006 07:25 AM

love this - the red car stands out really well against the blurred city backdrop! cheers :)

A vintage Kahrmann... Nice. And in good shape.
Beautiful car.

Wonderful shot. And a stunning car as well. The Volkswagen Karmann Ghia is a true classic.

Posted by Martin at June 9, 2006 09:06 AM

What strikes me as amazing is how the sharpest part of your panning car shots seems to always be the driver or passenger (thinking back to the recent photo of the girl in the back of the jeep). Great!

Great panning shot! Beautiful tones...

Astounding, I am always awestruck by your images. I can't even grasp being able to do this with my own photography, alas!

Posted by Sye at June 9, 2006 10:24 AM

It's a car!

Posted by Harlequinpan at June 9, 2006 10:33 AM

sam, just curious - how many hits does you blog get per day?

Posted by shula at June 9, 2006 11:10 AM

I wonder how long you waited till you saw an interesting car like that come by. Great pic as usual.

Posted by Graham at June 9, 2006 11:20 AM

Sam. You are amazing! How in creation you can get to take a VW Karmann Ghia picture just like that - no arranging for it to come for you, it just does.

After all, how many of these cars exist in Toronto? Or anywhere now?

Well the driver may be sharp, but too dark for me to know if this is my ol' friend in Toronto, who once had one of these and just might have refurbished it.

I've always coveted a Ghia.

I really like the brightness against the speeding background. I think the movement of the car is really enhanced by the fuzzy edges of the car.

Super cool color contrast.

Very cool shot Sam.

Very suitable post considering the opening of Pixar's Cars in theatres today. :D

Great shot! Cool car. It's red, tee hee!!! Weee!

Posted by Laurie at June 9, 2006 04:54 PM

looks good! might have to give panning a go!!! Now to find some decent looking cars!!!

Posted by JD at June 9, 2006 06:34 PM

Interesting shot. The red car really fits in the middle of the image and the motion around works very well. Kudos!

Posted by Thomas Solberg / Project neXus at June 9, 2006 06:39 PM

just like the other one...

Posted by tee at June 9, 2006 09:42 PM

Your panning images are great! I love that little red car.

What a fantastic, fantastic shot! It's my computer wallpaper right now - please post a larger version of it!

Posted by michael at June 12, 2006 09:18 AM

You make the car look fast as they were dreadfully slow and could be beaten by your average hyundai today

Posted by Pat at June 13, 2006 02:21 PM

The sense of motion is so well captured here, and the contrast really makes this foto pop.

Posted by Abe at June 22, 2006 01:36 PM

:) love the color.

Posted by Serena at June 30, 2006 01:17 AM

Sam, I already posted on this picture once, but I just wanted you to know. I used this photo in my Digital Photography class to show the Elements & Principles of photography. The teacher required us to pick one of our favorite photos, and this is by far one of my favorite. The teacher was even quite taken back by how amazing the photo is. Keep it up, you inspire me GREATLY!
