OMG. I saw Blowup for the first time a few months ago, so it's still fresh on the mind, and you are right... this does look like a shot from that film. So Sam, where's the body? (Or the band of merrymakers?) ;-)
Posted by Andrew at June 1, 2006 01:45 PMToo much arrangement!?
Posted by Harlequinpan at June 1, 2006 02:50 PMBeautiful shot!
Posted by Seesaw at June 1, 2006 02:51 PMi'm usually interested in your images, but today's really blows. The distortion around the dark branch is too obvious and it is a boring shot....not your usual level of quality.
Posted by Tom at June 1, 2006 03:19 PMAbsolutely fantastic shot!! It's always nice to get a look at other bloggers, too.
Posted by micki at June 1, 2006 03:21 PMPhoto of the year, shurely?!
Posted by Joe Clark at June 1, 2006 03:46 PMgreat pic! reminds me of the movie memento.
Cool!!
Posted by Andy at June 1, 2006 04:11 PMhe he :P he looks like he's sneaking onto some couple making out in a bush ;)
Posted by aashish at June 1, 2006 04:47 PMi love his tatoo - we are all made of stars. Moby. Sweet.
Posted by stefanie at June 1, 2006 04:56 PMI really like the "stalker-esque" feeling of this photo. But I'm not too sure what I think about the blur/distortion in the branches and such. It seems very fake.
Posted by Elissa at June 1, 2006 05:12 PMMOBY LYRICS? YES!
haha, those are some sweet tatoos
the strange rippling effect from the trees are very interesting. nice texture and color
Wow, some people said they didn't liked it, I guess I can see why, not everyone has the same eyes and mind. I came to say I really like it. I do feel a little odd about the blurring of the trees but I really like how it brings chris more into focus.
Something very appealing about a good looking man behind a camera... not that I've seen him any other time, maybe it's just the camera that makes him look good. :)
I really like this one. It's either because of the nice green, or the surreal fading. Both, probably.
Posted by Kevin at June 2, 2006 04:15 AMooohhhh ... I really love this one, but unlike most others, can't quite put my finger on why exactly. Now that I think about it, perhaps that's good! Rather than individual elements making a distinct impression, it's the photo as a whole that I love. If I can contradict myself a bit now though, I have to say, that unlike some others, I do love the distortion, and it doesn't hurt that your subject is cute!
Posted by Fiona at June 2, 2006 07:39 AM"We are all made of stars" Ha ha
That tattoo is going to gte out dated before you can say MOby.
Posted by tee at June 2, 2006 07:55 AMGORGEOUS! ... Oh yeah the shot is nice too... :)
Posted by Chrissy at June 2, 2006 10:27 AMBlow Up is one of my many favorite films, what I love is that this photo reminds me of it, yet it stands on its own... telling its own story.
I particulary like the fact that he is as interested in what he is photographing, as you are in your photo of him. Two ways of seeing in one photo... I dig it... the world need more perspectives.
For what it's worth from my end... well done Sam.
Posted by Amy at June 2, 2006 11:07 AMI have not seen the Blowup, but this image is exceptional! The background, the tattoo, the intense way he focuses on his photography ... beautiful!
Posted by Sarah at June 3, 2006 03:42 AMwell maybe the deformation around the branches is quite obvious, but to me the whole works fine... the diagonal alignment of the branch and his right arm gives some dynamic, i like that.
'seio me nihil seire' is definitly less cute than moby, but also much more worth keeping under one's arm! ;)
Posted by goon at June 5, 2006 05:37 AMUnreal work! Thanks!
Posted by sas at June 5, 2006 04:04 PMVery interesting post. I would really like to see a follow up on it.
