Comments: long shadow and red car

Incredible! Finding the right angle and looking with a camera eye. It's alinating and homely at the same time. Foto Art at its best!

Posted by arash at May 23, 2006 04:24 AM

that's cool. the long shadow from yourself and the nice colors in the background. cool!

Posted by sushi at May 23, 2006 04:35 AM

the red car got freaked out by your long shadow and fled to the safety of that corner! ;) ...very beautiful

Congratulations to you, and what an awesome image today! A great representation of the excellent work you post daily. The colors in this image are wonderfully bold, and a fantastic contrast to the delicacy of your shadow. Awesome composition!

Posted by micki at May 23, 2006 06:27 AM

Hey Sam,

Congrats, the title of 'Photoblog of the Year' is most deserved, hope you keep up the good work!

Posted by Daragh at May 23, 2006 06:39 AM

This is one strange image. Striking color and the wide angle surly emphasizes the oddness.

I like it.

Congrats on your award. It's a visual treat to check out your site every day.

Posted by Dave at May 23, 2006 06:58 AM

I obviously agree with the photoblog of the year, but some of the other selections are a bit weird. How is it that the Photoblog of the year doesn't also win the best in Canada award as well? Or the selection for best photograph, I think at least half of the other selections (including your entry) were better than the winner. Well, congradulations anyway, you definatly deserve it.

Posted by selam at May 23, 2006 07:02 AM

wow. and pictures like this are the reason why. congratulations!

Posted by hika at May 23, 2006 11:11 AM

You've certainly justified your award with today's shot. A true testament to how good you really are is how you've kept your popularity up, even with the change at photobloggers.org - no more #2 most favourite!

Posted by mawbee at May 23, 2006 11:12 AM

Rather surreal shadow Sam... looks like a miffy the bunny in a dress standing on stilts, waving hi!
other than that, nice colours. good to see you making excellent use of that 10-22. also congrats on your photobloggie. :)

Posted by nicesmooth at May 23, 2006 11:27 AM

Posted by harrysoms at May 23, 2006 12:16 PM

I only wanted to add that the fence, whatever it is made of, is echoing your shadow.. and it's reflecting reflections.. did I mention I love this photo? ;)

Posted by Susie at May 23, 2006 12:19 PM

Congratulations Sam!! -You are so deserving of this award, and the visual arts that you create daily are testament to this. I am so lucky to experience your creativity both on your site and by working at Optix.

Good JOb Sam...

More Toronto city images please ! :)

Posted by dan at May 23, 2006 12:57 PM

Wow, I love this photo...

So thought I till I scrolled down...

Amended: I love the *top part* of this photo.

I think it would be stronger if it lost all that stuff at the bottom which doesn't really add anything...the top bit is beautiful by itself.

Just my thoughts! And congrats on winning photoblog of the year! You deserve it!

Posted by A thinker at May 23, 2006 01:12 PM

A heartfelt congratulations! Your site is one that keeps me going posting and refining my own site. Keep up the fabulous photography and the wonderfully made photoblog!

keep it up THANK YOU

Posted by DAN at May 23, 2006 04:29 PM

I like the composition of today's shot, including all that stuff at the bottom. The proportions of the 3 main areas are part of the shot's success. Too bad that scrolling makes it hard to appreciate the photo as a whole. I downloaded it and viewed it outside my browser.

Congrats on the award. You got my vote.

Posted by Bill at May 23, 2006 04:52 PM

Sam: It was a pleasure meeting you and your gorgeous wife this past weekend - and I'm so happy you won the Photoblog of the Year. It is so well-deserved! I love your photography and your sense of style and look forward to many more years of you winning awards. :) All the best...

I love this shot. So well seen with amazing colors!

Posted by Kathleen at May 25, 2006 09:55 AM

Your photoblog continually inspires me, one day at a time. Where most photoblogs get tiresome and routinized (how many shots of streetcars can one really take), your site has the stopping power to make fickle multitasking net surfers take a moment to stop and observe.. DDOI makes seemingly ordinary places appear extraordinary.

Bravo!

Robb

Posted by Robb at May 25, 2006 07:55 PM

congrats, man~

i'm glad my vote worked =)

Posted by jeez at May 26, 2006 11:42 AM

Yea!!!!!! :) Congratulations! And here I thought I'd had the bright idea of nominating and voting for you... turns out lots of other people had the same idea! Hehe I'm very happy for you--you deserve to get attention for the fine work you do.

On a general note, I really enjoy your crisp and imaginatively conceived images. I hope your employers appreciate your talent and skill as well as the rest of us out here on the internet. :)

All the best...
