Brilliant - it's like the cover of a Philip K Dick novel
Posted by John at May 11, 2006 05:47 AMInteresting, the people almost appear to be little plastic models, especially the guys in suits.
Alternately, if you wanted to make a dystopian futuristic movie, you'd have this set-up. The guide explains how in the past, alcohol was legal and made in giant buildings.
Posted by Robert at May 11, 2006 06:14 AMWow I've never seen so many of those in one place before. Cool.
I know of one person who has one of those in my town, and I've only seen two others on the street elsewhere.
This is a beautiful shot. Great colors, interesting building.
Posted by Laurie at May 11, 2006 06:21 AMNice impression of the tour.
Posted by Chantal at May 11, 2006 07:02 AMThats great! Nice catch.
Take care-
Mark
How lucky they are. I usually go down in France (i'm located in Belgium) to enjoy riding one of theses but since it's pretty far, i can do it regulary.
I really wish i own one of theses fantastic segways
Posted by Airwave at May 11, 2006 08:04 AMwhat is that they are standing on!
Posted by aashish at May 11, 2006 08:10 AM"The people known as "people without wheels" lived and worked in these buildings made of brick, and had the red alarm buttons that you see to warn them of the approach of the new Segway people."
Posted by peter mccabe at May 11, 2006 08:46 AMHaha. The contrast between their "official/business like" clothes and those things they're standing on -> good shot.
Posted by Dutchie at May 11, 2006 09:14 AMI've been passively viewing your images for a while, but for some reason this one really struck me in a unique way - it's so normal yet so absurd!
Posted by Tim at May 11, 2006 10:08 AMI like the facade of the building and paving brick of the road,but...visitors....?look a bit funny in their dress!
Posted by Harlequinpan at May 11, 2006 10:47 AMJust like GOB ;)
Posted by Jonah at May 11, 2006 11:13 AMThe colors in this shot are wonderful!
I really don't understand the use of the Segways, especially if one is capable of walking.
Posted by micki at May 11, 2006 11:20 AMThis is an unforgettable pic . . what a capture. What’s more, the Comments are brill, too!
Posted by AG at May 11, 2006 11:40 AMGob would be proud, I just hope Lucille doesn't run them off the road.
Posted by Justin Gaynor at May 11, 2006 12:55 PMmaybe... Segway and suits and a skirt. LOL! Cool shot.
Posted by DeWaun at May 11, 2006 01:00 PMThe brickwork is beautiful and I didn't know that there was such a thing as segway tours. Thanks Sam.
Posted by Francine at May 11, 2006 01:10 PMCool. I like it.
Posted by Zishaan at May 11, 2006 01:15 PMFunny, I thought Segways were banned in the city.
Posted by Jeffrey Hawkins at May 11, 2006 01:31 PMHow odd ? never seen a segway tour before..great pic thou. reminds me of "the pisoner" with patrick Mc gee, i think.
Posted by dave at May 11, 2006 04:11 PMInteresting and funny... I wonder if they know they look kind of silly.
Posted by chiara at May 11, 2006 04:13 PMfrom one arrested development fan to another thank you for this...
Posted by la vie en rose at May 11, 2006 04:24 PMI was curious and found the tours here:

Posted by Todd at May 11, 2006 04:38 PMHA!!! Brilliant....I can almost hear "The Final Countdown" playing in the background. Well done Sam!
Posted by Dave MacIntyre at May 11, 2006 05:16 PMTo think these things were supposed to revolutionize transportation. I guess people reminded themselves of a better mode of transportation: Legs.
Sweet mag wheels though.
Posted by Daniel at May 11, 2006 05:24 PM:-) I like it.
Posted by Benjamim at May 11, 2006 07:36 PMThat is so weird.. totally surrealist. Excellent.
You are not a Belgian painter by any chance?
Posted by Michael at May 11, 2006 07:55 PMHeh... it's really freakishly surreal. Do Segways dream of electric people?
Posted by buzzbee at May 11, 2006 11:51 PMWhich way to the Banana Stand?
Posted by White Power Bill at May 12, 2006 12:22 AMIsn't it amazing what some people can come up with (invent)in order to become even lazier still.... on that note: we have these all over in Norfolk VA ... Yet, only the POLICE use them....
Posted by chrissy at May 12, 2006 02:55 PMNice capture... interesting mix of past and future!
Posted by Joyce at May 12, 2006 06:17 PMLooks like an artist's conception from the 50's of life in the future. Awesome.
Posted by Rachel at May 13, 2006 02:43 AMThis is funny! Great earthtones and nice, clean lines.
Posted by Abe at May 14, 2006 12:53 AMLol this photo is just great, really love it.
Posted by Ubbe at May 14, 2006 02:58 PMlike someone else said the clothes they are wearing and the novelty of those things they are standing on is hilarious
Posted by Huebert at May 14, 2006 08:27 PMThat reminds me of another story...you know that commercial for King of Queens? The one where "Doug" is riding around on one of those. sounds SO fun! I must put that on my to-do List!
Posted by Olive at May 17, 2006 05:08 PM"(dedicated to the memory of GOB!)"
