Always with great composition & colors! Blue banner against blue sky.. Nice angle.. And that lady in yellow jacket is so perfect to be there :)
Posted by rhani at May 9, 2006 03:08 AMA post from the Netherlands here, but "I'am Canadian!!!"
I visited Ontario and Toronto a couple of years back now (sept.2001). My favourite beer was Canadian. And now it appears in your photo's. Makes me damn thirsty again... Canadian had some great commercials also in those days, something with an "I am Canadian anthem" and "Proud to be Canadian" or something.
Well enough of my boring, those were the days story's, great photo again! The blue of the sky, the beercan-wall and the red bricks make you look longer at this scenery.
You are very welcome to visit my photoblog: english.javga.nl.
Posted by javga at May 9, 2006 05:05 AMAre you pleased with you new lens? How do you straighten your pictures, are you using a PS filter?
You have some great pictures in you blog, and it's a great source of inspiration. Keep up the good work :)
Posted by thukai at May 9, 2006 05:15 AMawesome colorspace, from the cold blue to the warm red. hm, i don't know what i shouldn't like at this picture.
Posted by sushi at May 9, 2006 05:26 AMbeautiful picture. The nice blue of the sky matches the brick wall. The upper part of the image is very calm and balanced. It is a good contrast to the bottom scene witch is very vivid. All in all you managed to capture the street life, added a nice impression of depth through the angle and the point of view.
Posted by marc at May 9, 2006 05:34 AMThat slate grey is sewn right thru this image. Gives a fantastic effect to a pic so full of street interest.
Posted by AG at May 9, 2006 05:37 AMamazing!
Posted by shula at May 9, 2006 05:50 AMVery cool how the Coors advert matches the sky. That 10-22 is giving some nice shots.
Posted by ROB at May 9, 2006 05:58 AMYour cityscapes have such wonderful scale. There is so much going on here in this shot it really does give a great sense of the moment.
Posted by Laurie at May 9, 2006 06:00 AMdid you buy anything nice? , lovely shot, very crisp and sharp, love the coors advert.
Posted by turkish at May 9, 2006 08:16 AMNice composition, did you use a polarizer?
Posted by Alex at May 9, 2006 08:55 AMExcellent use of the polarizing filter. I like the red bricks too.
Posted by Nate at May 9, 2006 10:01 AMnice composition. In my opinion also illustrates the dominance and overpowering nature of public advertizing.
Posted by Dave at May 9, 2006 10:17 AMNice! Did you use a polarizer?
Posted by John at May 9, 2006 10:20 AMI love everything going on in this photo. That is a very amusing ad hanging there, too.
Posted by micki at May 9, 2006 10:36 AMIAM.not CANADIAN.In my country we have sidewalk sale everywhere especially in "CHI LOU"[kind of terrace with roof].It's illegal,so sidewalk seller always run off when policeman appear.
Your photo shows a lovely sidewalk sale,it's sunny with easy going feeling!
Nice photo. And you so deserve the nomination! Great job.
Posted by A thinker at May 9, 2006 02:15 PMCongrats on the nominations Sam!
Posted by Rob at May 9, 2006 02:56 PMFantastic shot! Congatulations!
Posted by Seesaw at May 9, 2006 03:07 PMI live just across the street, saw a guy taking pictures of this and wondered if it was you.... were you climbing up things as well to get shots? It truly was a lovely day, and I think this captures the Annex at this time of year perfectly!
Posted by Michelle at May 9, 2006 03:30 PMI love the tallness of the building in this shot, and how it stretches so high above the activity in the street below.
Posted by cathy at May 9, 2006 05:40 PMWhat a ripoff! I got a whole box of books down on bloor for just two bucks just last week. And some sheet music too.
Posted by darren at May 9, 2006 07:36 PMThe picture is nice, but the concept of a funky old pub serving Coors Light gives me the creeps.
Yuck!
Hey, is that the Brunny? I used to live in that hood. You just made me so homesick! As usual!
Posted by johanna at May 10, 2006 01:00 AMCongradulations for the nominations.
You really deserve it.
This is a great, candid shot! I like the shadows and the in-the-moment feel to this.
