Awesome image! Great color, texture, and shadow.

what a coincidence! I visited pikto in the distillery district for the first time today (at around 6ish) and I also noticed the elongated shadows on the wall and took a shot sorta like this. Although I'm sure mine won't look as cool, that and I only had black and white film in my camera too :)

Boxes? Hm, I don't think so. Looks like some of those steel-bars wich were used to stabilize buildings the distilleries used to store wheat (?) in. They run through the building from one side to the other and keep it together.

the bricks on the left side of the photo look to have a velvety feel to them, they look really smooth. and what's going on with the clusters of 3 bricks? it looks like they've been attacked?!

A great example of the fact that there are photos to shoot everywhere.
Love your blog !

Not something a builder would want to put his name to but it sure makes a stunning pic. Shadow is terrific.

this is a very nice image. the contrast is just right. I love the three spots of patchwork brick in the shadows and the green blocks are very appealing. great photo.

Excellent use of combining shadows and texture. Looks like some bricks are working loose!

Is that shadow a lightpost/streetlight? I find myself becoming addicted to what each of the shapes are.

Now what I want to know is what those green brackets are holding up on the inside of the wall.

Other than that I think it's getting harder for you to find really worthy subject matter. A winner every day is a heavy challenge. You've done well so this is no put down.

Old brickwork is beautiful. Well capture, lovely colours. (As usual)

I like how the shadows fit around the green boxes.

Great, rich colors here. The green accents and the shadows make this an interesting foto. Another great brick shot!

I like that kind of photography- simple yet very expressive. Very nice shot..

Wonderful masonry. The shadows cast by the steel beam ends looks incredibly striking.

Very cool shot. Would make a great backdrop.

Hi Sam, looks like you've captured one of the rarest finds available these days; a wall without graffiti. Even I'm getting tired of seeing those bloated letters sprayed all over the place. Do something original guys. But I digress. I love your brick pictures. One of my favorites was your "bldg.no.45" of April 13/05. I love that one. As usual, great work Sam. Thanks for sharing your photos with us.

Hey Hugh,

As LMoon pointed out those boxes actually span the entire building and hold the opposite wall from falling outwards.
Pretty cool stuff. Love seeing your images. Thanks for posting em.
