Comments: kid and chapel

I believe that this may be a picture of some art by an up and coming artist here in the UK called banksy. I dont claim to be an expert (programer not artist) but you may want to check out www.banksy.co.uk

I mentioned the other day on someones site that I thought what they had captured was more vandalism as apposed to graffiti... Well... this is definitally graffiti and some great stencil work at that :)

Nice capture, I'm quite intrigued by the cable ties on the post and the lack of an apparent cable

Nice tribute to Diane Arbus.

I'd never thought I'd see that as a stencil - it's a famous photo by Diane Arbus taken in New York. I like the colours and the cable ties on the pipe!

That's the kid with the grenade from the late great Diane Arbus's photo!

It looks like the kid comeing out of the wall
or comeing down the stair,It's interesting.

That is no ordinary graffiti, for sure. Excellent work - if an unwelcome rape of someones wall. And messing the street sign's a bad attitude.

Good journalistic image as reportage.

That is soooo creepy

Great shot, as usual.
I love the different ranges of brown we can see.

it's a Diane Arbus photo made into a stencil.
just in case you weren't aware.
she's one of my fave fotogs.
the kid is holding a hand grenade.

Hey, that kid is from a Diane Arbus photograph... Interesting reference to a photograph within a photograph.

sam, there's something innocent and eerie about this picture. great composition.

What appeals to me with this shot is the color black. It starts with the bands across the post on the left and moves throughout the shot to the arrow on the right. Very nice.

oh I love banksy!
and Sam, thank you for photographing graffiti, good graffiti is beautiful!

How odd.

Imagine a city where graffiti wasn't illegal, a city where everybody could draw wherever they liked. Where every street was awash with a million colours and little phrases. Where standing at a bus stop was never boring. A city that felt like a living breathing thing which belonged to everybody, not just the estate agents and barons of big business. Imagine a city like that and stop leaning against the wall - it's wet.

Imagine a city where graffiti wasn't illegal, a city where everybody could draw wherever they liked. Where every street was so covered in what everyone felt that they had a right to express in spraypaint that all you could see was the colour puce. Where standing at a bus stop was always boring, because of the layers and layers of spraypaint that have turned everything to puce. A city that used to feel like a living, breathing thing which belonged to everybody, but now no one can live there because of the environmental damage caused by the spraypaint, and where no one can breathe because of the spraypaint fumes. Imagine a city like that and stop spraypainting the wall - it's not yours on which to do so.

Buy your own wall and do whatever you like. Just try to be kinder to the environment.

But it's a really interesting photograph, Sam!

badass

This is stunning. The contrasts and tones are unbelieveable (as in good, not as in unreal).

The black and gold on the brick are very complimentary.

The rusted pole, the white marks on the brick wall as well as the tonal variations are all very good.

Finally, this composition is excellent!

Oh wow, this immediately made my stomach jump (in a good way). I remember seeing this (I'm not sure if it's the same one...this is just parallel to the river, round the corner from the pub, right?) while I was attending the New York Film Academy in Oxford. Took a picture of it with my phone (hadn't really gotten into photography then) but can't find it anymore : (

This is on the wall of a Tescos! I used to live on this street. I have a Banksy book at home and was unaware one of his/her bits of work was under my nose. How cool is that?
