Really lovely shot, Sam. For me, looking at the lake, and looking at clouds such as these, are two very enjoyable ways to pass the time.

Posted by elias at April 9, 2006 10:04 AM

That is a fantastic sky. It makes everything on the ground look almost insignificant.

Gread capture of these clouds! Very 3D!

Hey that is the Notre Dame Basilica and on the far left the National gallery... I took a picture just like this in Ottawa. Awesome.

Posted by Lily at April 9, 2006 03:14 PM

did you use a polarizer for this?

Posted by dack at April 9, 2006 04:56 PM

Yes, "a church" = Notre Dame Basilica. "... the oldest surviving church in Ottawa. It stands on the site that was occupied by the first Catholic chapel open to both anglophones and francophones of Bytown."

"It contains more than 200 statues, many of which were carved by the sculptors responsible for the Parliament buildings."

Nice sky texture

Posted by Manolo at April 9, 2006 05:46 PM

Did you use an UV lens to get the clouds to stand out?

Posted by Chuck at April 9, 2006 08:12 PM

you are cheating, arent you? ottawa isnt so sunny yet!

Posted by *flying cow* at April 10, 2006 12:17 AM

Magic! Have you used high dynamic range programm?

Posted by Enemy at April 10, 2006 12:25 AM

Those clouds are so surreal! Very impressive!

Posted by gcdc at April 10, 2006 03:14 AM

growing up, my bedroom window faced roughly the same aspect as this shot. and these are definitely the skies of my childhood memories. i live out west now, where the skies are quite different, it's nice to be reminded of my old home.

Posted by marco at April 10, 2006 01:08 PM

I may have missed an explanation in the past, but why do you keep using the same sky over and over.

See "Opposite Reflections" April 03, 2006 and "Silver Towers" April 09, 2006.

I understand the using of filters, whether camera or photoshop, to express a feeling, But to combine photos and pass it off as an original is quite deceptive.

Such great clouds... nice polarized affect!

Posted by Abe at April 11, 2006 01:23 AM

Wow that's totally beautiful! If it's possible to keep the other buildings out of sight it'd almost look like a painting of the old Persian lands.

Posted by PlasticTV at April 11, 2006 06:10 AM

A stunning sky and I like the way you created this shot with a big sky against the church tower.

Some specialists tell that credit loans aid a lot of people to live their own way, just because they are able to feel free to buy needed stuff. Furthermore, various banks offer college loan for all people.
