What a fantastic photo but for the sake of purity I would get rid of those hideous monitor cameras.
Posted by john at April 1, 2006 07:22 AMWow! It is the foreboding looking sky that does it. A photo with a message it certainly is!
Posted by floridora at April 1, 2006 07:41 AMThe lighting is excellent, and I like what you've done with post-processing here. Very nice work!
Posted by Jessica at April 1, 2006 08:13 AMLovely shot, nice composition and the color of the clouds is superb.
Posted by Ashish Sidapara at April 1, 2006 08:57 AMThe original photo is nice, but I love the version with the tweaked out colors. It gives it an oddly surreal look, with the modern vehical and almost archival looking colors. This actually looks like a frame of a movie or something. Nice work!
Posted by Ryan at April 1, 2006 09:09 AMI love the color of the sky in this shot, it looks so ominous.
Posted by faustina at April 1, 2006 10:47 AMGreat shot, definitally prefer the coulouring in this shot.
I've not seen the film but I've heard mix reviews about it.
Posted by JD at April 1, 2006 11:08 AMnow that is just a beauty...
looks so crisp
I like the way you've used colours, or really tones on B&W, to make the Parliament Buildings pop. However, I find the crispness makes it look a bit unreal. I assume that's an artifact of using a digital camera?
Great framing -- the security camera looking down on Big Ben is telling!
Posted by talk talk talk at April 1, 2006 12:19 PMkinda ironic that the car is a Ford. lol
nice shot though, with the camera and everything. We could think you took it after you saw the movie !
i just saw v for vendetta last night too! at the imax, it was cool. great photo.
Posted by sara at April 1, 2006 01:35 PMI knew I recognised this shot - thought maybe id seen it somewhere else, but nope, it was you. I really like what you did with the colours, gives it a very different feel.
Posted by Phil at April 1, 2006 02:03 PMi agree with you, i enjoyed the comic book way more than the movie, which was a bit cheesy.
and as for the picture, the parliament building looks absolutely incredible! kudos!
Posted by Sana at April 1, 2006 02:16 PMHi,
What process do you do to get the efect of washed away colors?
This shot is definately much more interesting than the previous version. Much more ominous and suiting to the subject overall.

A lot of people in Britain feel the same way. The premise of V for Vendetta seems to be becoming more real with every action of the people within that people. It's very sad indeed.
Posted by Aegir at April 1, 2006 04:26 PMThis is possibly the best image i've ever seen of the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben!! Brilliant.
Posted by Dean [Captured4Life] at April 1, 2006 04:43 PMIm sure London, like any other city, is full of security cameras. Isn't the stat something like you are filmed on a few hundred different cameras each day in a city? It's something hugely ridiculous. But it is a brilliant picture, I do love london.
Posted by TheWakeUpCall at April 1, 2006 05:21 PMNice shot as always, I love the colours here. Only cricit would be a bit too much unsharp mask for my taste, see the halos on the left edge of the tower for instance. Anyhow, i'm still a big fan :-)
Posted by AndreB at April 1, 2006 07:12 PMGreat play with the colors! Awesome shot.
Posted by micki at April 1, 2006 07:35 PMI love the saturation in this one. It's very effective. Lovely. Great sky!
Posted by Laurie at April 1, 2006 08:13 PMSICK! You have the Eye.
Posted by Tom at April 1, 2006 08:32 PMI really like the cameras contrasting the old historic building. It shows how far we have come.
Posted by RyanT at April 1, 2006 09:23 PMThe shape and colors of the clouds and the light on the buildings and street below remind me of one of those scenes in movies where the camera shows the movement of the clouds in fast forward to show time moving forward.
Posted by Connie at April 2, 2006 12:31 AMGood shot,I'll also give that L lens some credit, great lens if I must say so
Posted by Jerry at April 2, 2006 12:42 AM"Im sure London, like any other city, is full of security cameras."
Actually, I'm pretty sure London has more security cameras than any other city in the world.
Excellent shot, by the way--it could almost be a movie poster for V for Vendetta
Posted by Keith at April 2, 2006 02:34 PMIt's a stunning picture. I love the clouds and the building color brings uniformity to it. You even snuck a plane in there!
Saw V for Vendetta and found it enjoyable.
Posted by Maddox at April 2, 2006 08:26 PMThe moment I was this, I thought "He must have seen V for Vendetta".
Heh.
I work round the corner from here and it really looks this grey.
i was just there today with a friend who's visiting from canada! the clouds today looked exactly like the clouds in your shot. very nice.
Posted by CET at April 3, 2006 07:11 PMLove what you've done with the colours here, it's a great scene
Posted by Rob at April 4, 2006 02:59 AMIs that a plane in the sky?
Posted by Greg Bobbin at April 4, 2006 08:32 AMthis photo should be called Big Ben and Big Brother. That camera is right smack next to the clock tower. i thought it was punny.
Posted by DAVID Dugas at April 6, 2006 11:16 AMI like the dark, deep tones in this foto. Great scene and polarized affect.
Posted by Abe at April 11, 2006 01:34 AM"What a fantastic photo but for the sake of purity I would get rid of those hideous monitor cameras."
But that's what makes this photo so great. Probably one of the best photos of London I've seen.
Posted by jamie at June 8, 2006 02:58 PMBrilliant snapshot, very Banksy styley!
Posted by Jordie at June 8, 2006 06:22 PMBefore I scrolled down to the comment the first thing this made me think of was V For Vendetta. Excellent photo and the muted colours are really in keeping with the comic book.
