Sharp picture, with a beautiful light!

yonge looks eerily empty

Because, every day, I see your beautiful photographies.
And tomorrow too, and… and… and…
Thank you a lot.

Lovely exposure.

Excellent colors (again) and very interesting perspective. Great job on minimizing distortion. I like this shot a lot, Sam.

Whatever you shoot at 17 mm looks gorgeous. Whatever i shoot at 17mm, ends up in the recycle bin :(

This is a great shot! I do have a question though...Where is the traffic?

Posted by Laurie at March 25, 2006 07:30 AM

wow! just like a Richard Estes painting, or something by Ralph Goings. I love this, the fact that there are not many people in the shot either is even better.

Posted by Rhys Baker at March 25, 2006 07:31 AM

Where all the traffic? Next sky and reflection from the Eaton's tower.

Dan.

great shot! i love how the picture draws my eyes to two different focal points....the tower and then the building at the very end of the street. tunnel vision!

Your photos almost made me cry...

Simply loved them!

Congratulations from Portugal***

Uh? Where are the cars and all? Toronto Sunday morning? Of course, in the 9 years I lived there I don't recall experiencing that point on a Sunday morning so .... Hmmm?

I'm impressed with the detail in the Shadows and even to the flash back on the buildings reflecting the late afternoon sun. Speaks well for Canon's CMOS sensor.

Did you photoshop all the traffic out of the picture? :) PS - funny how "photoshop" has become an accepted verb...

Posted by Kieran at March 25, 2006 01:27 PM

Great light and amazing sky color. It seems like there should be people everywhere in this scene, yet you've managed to capture it relatively empty. Very nice.

Excellent sharpness and color balance. I really do like the sky. These many kinds of blue.

nice road

Amazing that you shot this with practically no cars around. Nice one!

Hello!
This picture is simply amazing...
Loved the colour of the sky, the beauty of the building, the essence of urban life!
This picture will suit perfectly in my search work about the contrasts between developped and non developped countries!

I would like to know your opinion about portuguese photographers!
Please acceed to www.olhares.com

Congratulations!

There is not a car on the street, although I see a couple way in the background. Did you purposefully wait for the street to clear before shooting this amazing scene?

Posted by micki at March 25, 2006 10:10 PM

is that what they call visionary?

Posted by Peggy at March 26, 2006 01:08 AM

the sky looks like it belongs to some different scenery alltogether.. the prairies for instance.. and it;s peeking with curiosity onto that confined space of a city street

Posted by Susie at March 26, 2006 03:03 AM

nice one. cool perspective with the small houses in the foreground and the skyscraper in the background

Your photos are fantastic. Really inspiring. I've looked at nearly all of the ones in the archives and some are ridiculously good! I've just started my own photo blog but I feel a bit lame after having looked at these! If you could find the time to comment one of mine and give me any pointers, I would be very grateful. Thanks. Keep up the good work.

Neat perspective. Am also puzzled by the lack of traffic... is this a Toronto fantasy scene?

Posted by Eleanor at March 26, 2006 09:32 PM

I like the composition of this one, with the big mirror building being a little to the left. Nice use of the polarizer too.

Hi Sam. Just a quick note ... the building at the right is actually at Yonge & Queen (you can see the Queen subway stop sign), while the building from the photo previous to this (I believe it's 205 Yonge St., where the Toronto Historical Board used to be) is up the street a bit... you can see a bit of it just past the Elgin theatre there. Just a small point. :) Great pic, by the way. Joe.
