so excellent street shot. great lighting and banners.
Posted by Pooriya at March 10, 2006 02:42 AMToronto is so commercial. It's kinda ridiculous.
Posted by Anthony at March 10, 2006 04:22 AMhaha, i bet you could sell that picture to our german tv channel prosieben because next week greys anatomys first season is launched here...

Posted by Jonathan Goodwin at March 10, 2006 06:24 AMI'm visiting Toronto for a few days (From Montreal) and I can't wait to do some photography there
Hey Sam! did you notice the sign above the person crossing the road? "Life in Motion"... pretty cool wethere you inteded it or not...:)
Posted by -= Moussa =- at March 10, 2006 06:43 AMGreat night shot! I still have troubles coming up with a good picture on a rainy day/night. Comes pretty natural for you though.
Posted by Nate at March 10, 2006 07:06 AMI recognize the add for Grey's Anatomy, it just started here in Holland its first season and is a hit. I love the show myself.
Posted by Chantal at March 10, 2006 07:27 AMGreat impact in this shot. I feel the need to run in out of the rain. Terrific color. Love it!
Posted by L Jackson at March 10, 2006 07:58 AMBeautiful composition and plenty of interesting details to look at...great photo!
Posted by D MacIntyre at March 10, 2006 08:05 AMGREAT SHOT!! is there anyway you can make it into a wallpaper? Thanks!!
Posted by Ashley at March 10, 2006 08:10 AMyee gosh, there seem to be many more billboards than I remember. . .unless it's just the angle and lighting and the time of day that is highlighting them. . .
Posted by A thinker at March 10, 2006 09:18 AMI'd like this image a lot more with the top 1/3 cropped out or DoF'ed out. the sharp legibility of the signage of the top i find to be distracting.
Posted by Rajio at March 10, 2006 10:08 AMKindof a boring picture. not of the calibre i'm used to.
Posted by Ben Kennedy at March 10, 2006 10:10 AMThis is my own personal vision of hell
very nice photo though
me gusta el detalle del comercial de Darth Vader
Posted by Erika at March 10, 2006 10:52 AMnice
Sam, this is such a beautiful shot. The different types of lighting, reflections, etc., gives us so much to look at.
Just so people don't get the wrong idea. Toronto isn't that commercial at all. This scene is part of the Dundas Square area. Everything within the two block area is covered in signage. Its actually a fascinating place to see and be in.
Great picture... Anyone remember what this intersection looked like ten years ago? 5? Crazy!
Posted by mark at March 10, 2006 12:39 PMI used to work in this building, the Atrium, before they plastered the ads all over it. Very nice photo. Dundas reminds me of some futuristic sci-fi dystopia now. :)
Posted by Ian at March 10, 2006 12:53 PMAnother great rainy night shot. You make TO look so much better than I remembered it to be. Keep it up.
Posted by gck at March 10, 2006 01:39 PMBRAVO. J'adore. C'est vertigineux, et rendre ce vertige en photo est d'un grand art.
Felicitations.

Posted by boutillot-cauquil at March 10, 2006 03:21 PMQuite a circus of color. Thanks to a visitors comment I can assume that Edward street's close to Dundas and Yonge which I remember from my years in Toronto, but not Edward which may be new from the changes wrought on that corner in the past 10 years.
The one thing that bugs me is that ugly tower supporting the Grey's Anatomy ad.
Posted by Hugh Petrie at March 10, 2006 03:54 PMMy first thought too, was of hell. But after reading the comments, i see in this photo life in all its facets: motion, shimmer, shadow, possibility -- with ClearChannel and Darth Vader hovering over us. And the real monster is scarier than the fictional.
Posted by kelly at March 10, 2006 04:10 PMNice lighting. I love night shots..
Posted by Raffi at March 10, 2006 06:37 PMThat's a cool pic. Great color and that's a crazy looking billboard for Grey's Anatomy.
Posted by richard at March 10, 2006 06:40 PMNow I'm wondering if I've ever seen you walking around with your camera. Somehow it seems more alive here. All the colours just pop out.
Posted by vanessa at March 11, 2006 12:07 AMThanks for posting Dr. Sheppard's photo...
Posted by Marjan at March 11, 2006 01:30 AMI hate when there are too many billboards in one area. The rest of Toronto isn't like that, just Dundas. I like this shot, lots to look at
Posted by NoLabels at March 11, 2006 03:52 PMnice shot! This pic made me laugh because I'm in the States and I think i'm the ONLY person here who doesn't watch Grey's Anatomy. So this pic reminded me of that lil fact. The show is coming to take over Canada too, I'm sure.
Posted by marie at March 11, 2006 09:24 PMGreat wide angle! The slick streets and vivid colors make this shot come alive.
