this thing is HUGE in germany, it's on documentary television nearly every week. each year, they add a new world, as far as i remember the last one was a scandinavian one with fjords and ships and so on... it really bothers me up to now i've never had the chance to visit it. really nice photo by the way :)

Whoa... Have you ever thought of becoming a archectural model photographer? A few years ago they were a specialized subset of commercial photographers; even with their own fiber optic flash kits! Do they even exist in this day of computers? Am I showing my age? I do feel bad for the fallen biker; he does seem to draw my attention.

for a second my jaw dropped. but then the cars/road didn't look very real, so i decided it was a REAL tilt-lens phenomenal.
i absolutly love miniature cities, they're magical. i would love to see this one in person! thank you for sharing a glimpse.

One has to wonder at the values of society when there is so much money to build things like this display but none to house real people.

I think I would try for max depth of field in a situation like this, but at f2.5 it's quite shallow.

Doubtless you did what you could (tripods are awkward to carry) and as a photo it looks like a real place.

Victoria, BC has www.miniatureworld.com which is also incredible with its' different mini themes and trip through time...not to mention also the nearby Royal BC Museum which showcases the natural and human history of British Columbia and of course Butchart Gardens. FYI

The series of miniature photos, be it real or simulated, is really adorable. It reminds me of childhood, when i spent lots of time playing with construction blocks and miniature figures and making up stories for them. :)

I am happy to see you back on track. This one is amazing. I did not have a clue such a thing exist at all, otherwise I would go to Hamburg when I was in Germany three weeks ago. Seems that I am geting old and missing so many things that I would love to see.
Anyway, it is Saturday 4 March and for the first time I see there isn't any new picture here!!! Is everything Ok? Your blog is the second thing I check everyday and this is quite worrying that no new picture was added today. Last night we had a little bit of snow in Manchester and comparing to the norms it was heavy for our town, do you think that might have caused any problem? ;^)

Almost real enough. First tip-off was the height. Then the reflection from the street is wrong, and not enough dulling rubber grunge on the street nor soot on the yellow truck. And I think the sequence of bicyclists is off as well. The fallen one would not be in that position till the group would have nearly or completely passed. And till then, the group would have bunched right out of uncertainty as to how he would move. Also, would have taken too long to focus that way if it were happening in real-time.
Great photo! Funny! Makes you do a double-take. Makes you Think! Love the focus effect!
