Great capture of lighting... i thought it was a screen shot from PGR3...

That's my fave time of the day, with the sun going down. Great soft and toned down colours to this scene creating the atmosphere of calm and peace.. tho obviously it couldn't have been too quiet in such a busy street at the time!

Really great shot. I've been there dozens of time but never seen the beauty of the corner before.

It's true that the lighting here makes the photo - but beyond it I can't see that this shot has a lot of merit. From the static-looking cars in focus to the one coming in at the lower-right-hand corner, to the relatively empty upper-left-hand corner, I just don't see the appeal. The lighting is nice, as I said, but I'm sure there was a much more interesting subject nearby that was illuminated in the very same light.

My view of the downtown core of the city from my 23rd floor apt. allows me to see right across the lake to the buildings in Niagara Falls!!
Sam definitely caught the light last evening. It is always dramatic, but different, depending on whats in the atmosphere just before the sun disappears.
A bit of Toronto trivia -- ours was the first Hard Rock Cafe in North America!!

Great one Sam...what photgraphy should be plain and simple good obsevation coupled with nice composition well exposed...this does it all for me.

Beautiful photo. The color of the cab matches the sundown's! Even all the buildings seem to be new, Young Street gives the same feeling as it did 45 years ago when I shot the photos for my book "The New City". Bravo.

Yonge and dundas is my afvourite interesection in Toronto, it's so live.

i was last year in toronto, i left on may 31. in the afternoon. this was the last place i went before i took the subway to the airport which took me back to switzerland after 8 month in toronto. this picture is really amazing, i like most of the pictures on this site. i like the sky which is coloured, and the light from the sun which is reflecting from some windows. the whole situation that the picture shows is very good. it really shows the life in torontos downtown. when i look at it, i get kind of sad, because i'm here and not there. very good, i like your work.

Was directed here from Toronto Metblogs. This is a great shot as the sunset-light softens what is admittedly a harsh, ugly-looking street (love Toronto, but know it isn't overly pretty). I love the Downtown Yonge signposts - so fun!

Yippie. The great city photos are back. There is so much to look at in this photo...very nice

There's such warm lighting here, though i cant imagine it is at all warm.
The blur on the car going by at the bottom right and the red light really add a lot to it.

As for the pink panther poster, im just not so sure that looks like a great movie.

thats what i'm talking about, way to go sam. the clarity and lighting on this is perfect. i can't find anything i do not like. the odd colored taxi makes the shot THAT much more interesting, wow wow and wow!
