nice
Posted by Winston at February 27, 2006 06:08 AMLovely textures in this. Beautiful tones.
Posted by Chris at February 27, 2006 06:14 AMvery very nice. i like the black and white here. although i would be tempted to be corny and selectively desaturate everything but the phone booth!
Posted by Jesse at February 27, 2006 06:31 AMnice compsotion and great monochrome tone.
Posted by Pooriya at February 27, 2006 06:42 AMHey that's somewhat teasing to post desaturated (or is it toned?) shots like this and refer to something of color in the shot... I like it.
Posted by Robert at February 27, 2006 06:59 AMstill going through the london trip photos, eh? :o) thanks for the great talk yesterday, especially about the hdr photography. it was a definite pleasure to hear you speak.
Posted by vasta at February 27, 2006 07:35 AMi want to see colors. it's not red, it's SEPIA :-(
Posted by indrek at February 27, 2006 07:46 AMVery red
Posted by Hitesh Sawlani (hitkaiser) at February 27, 2006 08:17 AMRustic, calm and beautiful. Great shot!
Posted by D MacIntyre at February 27, 2006 09:03 AMneat composition, the sepia gamut goes very well here...
Posted by NoWords at February 27, 2006 09:06 AMWow, so crisp and gorgeous. Very nice!
Posted by Scarlet at February 27, 2006 09:46 AMWell, it's really more of a phone booth ;-) nice photo, as always. I wonder if it would be cool to colorize just the phone booth in this shot?
Posted by Dan at February 27, 2006 09:47 AMOne of my favourites to date.
Reminds me of an illustration from a Chris van Allsburg book. :)
Posted by Chris at February 27, 2006 10:01 AMPhone box* ;)
Posted by Hosko at February 27, 2006 11:41 AMA whole bunch of the English spirit. Including the word "route" they have taken from french.
Posted by Jonas Detarsis at February 27, 2006 12:36 PMIf you've seen one, you know they're red. If you haven't, take the caption's word for it. For me, the variety of textures is what makes this shot. Bravo!
Posted by alborak at February 27, 2006 01:05 PMI may be crazy, but I feel like I can see the red, even though it isn't.
Posted by Chris at February 27, 2006 02:20 PMVery nice :)
Is that Parks Road? (Just off Broad Street)
Posted by Alex at February 27, 2006 02:40 PMThe strong horizontal and vertical lines create a composition that captures the stolid and upright nature of the Brits. The individual elements: sign, bin, booth, stone wall -- all capture some of the delights to be celebrated in their unique-English habitat. "Keep Britain tidy." Finally, there is mystery in the booth. Who is that shaded soul and what is his mission? A wonderful, evocative photo!
Posted by Anne Gautreau at February 27, 2006 03:15 PMit's not red. it's grey.
Posted by daniel Pape at February 27, 2006 07:45 PMnice B&W picture!
Posted by marçal at February 27, 2006 10:40 PMthat sepia tone is beautiful.
Posted by London at February 28, 2006 12:04 AMI would have loved to see it in colour. Like this, it is just a phone booth. And not red. Yes, call me a nitpicker! ;)
Posted by Moon at February 28, 2006 02:24 AMThis pic is one of the best I have ever seen! Simple and neat !
Posted by Rajiv Mathew at February 28, 2006 08:59 PMThis photo speaks to me! The texture is amazing and I the love the contrast the black and white provides. I doubt color would have done it justice. I also love how the light gently works to reveal the mysterious gentleman in the booth. Great composition.
Posted by Susan Ferris at March 1, 2006 02:33 PMvery very nice!
someone on phone booth?
I think it would look really cool if the booth was red (desat style)
Posted by yantski at April 26, 2006 08:12 PMBeautiful! I wonder would it be so impressive for those who have not been raised with the black and white movies and photography?
Would they feel the mood?
