seeing architecture n exhibition - i suddenly recalled ayn rand's 'fountain head' n howard roark.. :)
i should say - the lighting is perfect considering that these are indoor images - great work !!

nice shots! i still wonder why for exhibitions like this nobody ever has come up with the title "artchitecture", but maybe i should tell that to those who think of a title before the exhibition actually opens ;)

Excellent triptych Sam,

You subtley capture the story of the entire evening in these.

Bonus, I do believe you captured .[[murmur]]. creator Shawn Micallef in the bottom photo.

We'll hafta watch out for green ears appearing across Bilbao next!

I think that bottom one is the model of the new concert hall/prison in Springfield...

Nice Documentary work here. It can sometimes be difficult to make interesting photographs at events like this, but I think these are fine. It seems like you went more for the documentary approach and I like that.

Lucky you! Must have been a very interesting evening.

Have you seen the film "Sketches Of Frank Gehry", by Sydney Pollack?

Hey Sam,

Lucky you Sam. By the looks of it, it looks like it was blast. Good photos

I'm not familiar with the subject of the second photo, is that one building/complex, or was an entire city block Gehry'd?

Also: artitecture

I can imagine how glad you where by seeing Frank Gehry. He is considered as an important architect with lot of imagination and modernism in this environnement. How lucky you are!

In one episode of The Simpsons, they built a concert hall based on the shape of a piece of junk paper in Springfield. It was later turned into a prison 'cuz it was under-used. The last pic totally reminded me of that.

Note that the Simpsons episode AND Sydney Pollack's documentary on Gehry are part of the exhibit. In fact, the simpson's episode was the most difficult thing for the AGO to get (every voice performer had to give their OK).

Hi Kathy. In reply to your comment: hmmmm maybe you are right. But at least it looks nice ;)

Posted by Cas Poldermans at February 16, 2006 06:29 AM

I WOULD HAVE LOVE TO BE THERE!

I appreciate the different feel of the various cameras/lenses used here. I particularly like the effect from the Raynox WA on the A95. Also quite interesting is how little noise the camera produces at ISO 800 and 1600. I hope the upcoming Canon dSLR at (supposed) 10 plus megapixels (but same size sensor) can manage noise as well or better than the current 350D and 20D.

I guess the Simpsons stole the concert hall thing from LA, or Disney, Not sure who lays claim to the actual building. concert hall/prison!?
